Working out on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 16 Mar 2019 by midcenturyjo

Not really working out, more like stretching out on a Saturday. Warrior One, a yoga studio designed by Melbourne-based interior design studio GOLDEN is “a physical manifestation of sophisticated, contemporary coastal culture, reflective of a space designed for transcendent experiences.”

I’ll confess. I may have green thumbs when it comes to gardening but my veggie bed is a spectacular failure. Might have something to do with preparing the beds, weeding and all the hard work you have to put in. I like a jungle of a garden that looks after itself. Now I have the perfect solution for my failed veggie patch. A Malvern East garden by Melbourne-based landscape designer Kate Seddon.

“What had been an expansive vegetable plot at the rear of this family home was to be transformed. There was a need for foliage cover, for another outdoor living zone for teenagers and young adults to congregate, for a more attractive outlook from living spaces … central to the redesign was a generous open graveled void defined by two L shaped concrete benches.”

A beautiful oasis

Sometimes you need a beautiful oasis away from this crazy, crazy world. I’ll be curled up on that sofa staring out the doors. Calm and cocooned in a elegantly relaxed home Connecticut House by Billy Cotton.

Another bold project by Lucinda Loya

In quintessential Lucinda Loya style, this Texas home is filled with unique furnishings, bold use of colour and pattern, and lots of drama. Always a good time when you peek into one of her homes.

Interior designer Lucinda Loya‘s Louisville, Kentucky home is the definition of eye candy. An explosion of colour and pattern in every room, it is about as dramatic as you can get and I love every bit of it. It’s one of those homes that has so many layers and so many incredible details that I could spend hours devouring these photos and find something new each time (like the spider light fixture in the photo below). Lucinda shows no restraint, and because she’s so talented it works sooooo well.
