A white farmhouse

Posted on Fri, 13 Sep 2019 by midcenturyjo

Simple beauty rising from a field of grass. As elegant as it is straightforward. An oasis of white with shutters to control the amount of Texas sun entering the tranquil interiuors. Round Top Farmhouse by Houston-based Murphy Mears Architects.

A family summer home on Shelter Island

This lovely home is the Shelter Island, NY summer oasis of John and Christine Gachot, of design firm Gachot Studios. I love the casual, earthy vibe here, especially the painting studio that occupies a former carriage shed. What a fun spot to hang out and enjoy the summer weather.

Frederick Tang Architecture

Frederick Tang Architecture is an architecture and design practice located in Gowanus, Brooklyn. While they have worked on a wide variety of projects, their attention to detail and function is always evident. I could not pick a favourite project so here are glimpses from several of them.

Contemporary living in the Melbourne suburb of Elwood. I was real estate strolling scrolling when I happened upon this modern family home. The long narrow block is typical of the area but the designers have managed to not only include a pool but a studio over the garage to the rear. Think clean lines, concrete floors and blonde wood. Link here while it lasts.

I think if I win the lottery (and I’m talking a big one) I might just be able to afford this Great Mackeral Beach home by award-winning architects Casey Brown. With views across Pittwater to Lion Island, Barrenjoey Headland & the iconic Palm Beach coastline, once inside, it’s like the house is floating on water. Stumble down to the beach or just relax, drinking in that view from your modern day beach shack. Link here while it lasts.
