Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 7 Sep 2019 by midcenturyjo

It’slike I say time and time again. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. REHAU’s Design Haus showroom in South Melbourne by Taylor Knights.

A country estate in Ibiza

Posted on Fri, 6 Sep 2019 by KiM

The more we feature homes from the stunningly beautiful island of Ibiza, the more I want to visit. Last year Jo shared this villa by London designer Hollie Bowden, and she has another gorgeous Ibiza home in her portfolio I wanted to share. Located in San Carlos, this country estate and guest villas are set amongst tropical gardens featuring 8 bedrooms with en suites, sauna, gym, games room and cinema. Wood and neutrals with worn textures against white is all you need with all that beauty beyond the walls.

Jen Talbot Design

I’m not sure how we have not yet featured the designs of Chicago-based interior designer Jen Talbot before. Mixing modern and vintage, and embracing dark colours for some dramatic moodiness are elements I absolutely love. And her bathrooms are inspiration-folder worthy. So fun!!!

I can’t make up my mind what I love more … the warm, caramel colour palette, the stunning spiral staircase, the stylish yet serene bathroom or the wonderful outdoor entertaining areas. Toluca Lake Residence by Los Angeles based Rios Clementi Hale Studios.

Kim and I have always had a “thing” for converted churches. If I was to buy this old Anglican church and hall listed for sale in Sydney’s Como I could move all my goods and chattels into the brick church and style up the old Sunday School hall as a guest house for when Kim came to stay. The church was designed by architects Hely, Bell & Horne and originally built  in 1965 before being deconsecrated and sold in 1997.  I wondered why there was no street shot in the real estate listing as it is a very funky building. A quick look on Google Street View revealed a sad state of affairs in a not so picturesque streetscape but so much potential don’t you think? Link here while it lasts.
