This, friends, is the most perfect cottage ever. Mountain Cottage in Cashiers, NC. Designed by Basic Projects. Our whole office called this cottage ‘The Dream’. Our clients are some of our favorites we’ve ever worked with – not only did they have impeccable taste, they have an amazing view on life and had collected so many little gems to include in the decor – they made this project as fun and easy as it gets. They told us they wanted an “english cottage in the NC mountains”… so with that, we did not fear lots of pattern, plenty of frames and books to cozy up with by the double sided wood burning fireplace and materials that were “family friendly” so the kids could walk through with muddy boots – all staples in the English countryside.

Juniper Tedhams originally trained as a painter and it tells. Considered composition, her use of light as yet another design element. Her next move into antiques honed her curatorial eye, informed her furniture selections. The final move into interior design was a given. Restrained, elegant, sophisticated.
“A classic Long Island farmhouse that reflects how we live and entertain today, in which unique connections between spaces allow for a variety of interactions and connections.”
Situated in an old orchard this traditional gable roofed home has had new life breathed into it with a contemporary interpretation of farmhouse aesthetics by Elizabeth Roberts Architects. Fundamental to the new design are the sun room re-imagined with cement tiles, pine panelling and wood burning stove, the perfect spot for all year round living and a welcoming kitchen where family and friends can gather.
Wow. WOW. It’s spaces like these that make me crave earth tones sooooooo much. Shades of white, cream, brown and black make for such a warm, easy-on-the-eye atmosphere. Paris designer Émilie Bonaventure of BE Attitude created an absolute masterpiece with this apartment in the 9th arrondissement. Those curved windows and doors are such a dream.

And some from me. Bernie just making it into the first photo, curled up on the ottoman of my Eternity Modern freeform sofa. Second one is Phoebe asleep on my antique grandfather chair in the jungle corner of my living room. And lastly, Felix is always surrounded by the semi-feral brothers.
