Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 28 Mar 2020 by midcenturyjo

A lot of us are compelled to stay home in these dangerous times. Others have no choice but to go out into the big, bad world to help others or keep the wheels turning. I can’t use my usual spiel about being dragged into work on a weekend. It doesn’t feel right. So many of us have lost our jobs. I’ll just share this stylish workplace instead. Officina Biasol, the design studio of Melbourne-based Biasol. Stay safe!

Beverly Hills hideaway

“This traditional style family home tucked away high in The Hills sits above Los Angeles and is filled with a mix of contemporary, modern and rare vintage furniture sourced from all over the world.”

Stylish, sophisticated, worldy and beautiful. Hideaway by Sydney (and LA) designer Jase Sullivan.

Bridge Garden

Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2020 by midcenturyjo

It’s called the Bridge Garden because this walled garden forms a bridge between the existing sandstone workers cottage and its new minimalist, Japanese inspired addition. I think it could easily have been called the Refuge or the Inner Oasis. What a joy to open the gate in the nondescript wall in an inner city Sydney alley and find this refuge. A cool green heart in the city’s heart by Svalbe & co.

Pierce & Ward update – part 1

It has been a while since Jo first featured the work of L.A. and Nashville based designers Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward of Pierce & Ward. This talented duo is still going strong with maximalism and a flourish of colour, pattern and texture. Intriguing layers that make you stop and take in every inch.
