Gregory Mellor‘s aesthetic is understated and elegant with an emphasis on comfort and authenticity. For his own house in the South African countryside there is a mix of family antiques, textures and textiles. The look is rustic yet classically timeless.

Chris Moss Gardens

I love outdoor spaces to be a bit unexpected as much as I love the same with interiors. Chris Moss gardens are incredibly beautiful and take this concept to heart. Hard landscaping mixed with soft, ethereal plants, blurring the lines between traditional and modern.

Unexpected colours in a Georgian country house

I am always on board with spaces that have unique colour combinations and where there is not a lot of white trim and ceilings. Designer Nicola Harding hit the nail on the head with this modernized country house in Berkshire, England. This generous Georgian country house has been completely re-energised for family living. On the ground floor, entranceways and connecting spaces are painted in vibrant blues and greens. Living spaces – and the vast garden room – are bathed in natural light and filled with soft furnishings and found pieces that have been arranged in the centre of each room to create a feeling of intimacy. Upstairs, soft greys, soothing pinks and pale blues are teamed with patterned textiles that have banished any sense of stuffiness from this handsome home.

Collector House

“The Collector House feels wonderfully relaxed. Sunlight streams in from the central skylight and fills the rooms. The view of the harbour, framed by jacaranda and eucalypts, and the ferries passing by all contribute to the overall sense of calm. It’s a barefoot house – warm and grounded, with space for loved ones to gather.”

There are touches of humour and art, honest materials and a sense of the Aussie vernacular. There are private spaces and places to come together. And then there’s the view. Collector House by Sydney-based interior designers Arent & Pyke.
