A little riot

Posted on Fri, 28 May 2021 by midcenturyjo

Let’s start the weekend with a little riot … of colour and pattern that is. Don’t let those beige rendered walls fool you. It’s all about floral wallpaper, Indian block print, vibrant suzani and bold stripes in this Madrid apartment by Marta de la Rica. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Stunning stone

“Good design is in the layers of detail and the intention behind those details. It evolves. I love walking into a home, time and time again, to discover something new — a story yet to be told.”

Rustic yet sophisticated, beautifully curated with a minimalist earthy colour palette it is texture that is the star. Rough stone, smooth to the touch paster, weathered wood and the slub of natural fibres. Shady Canyon Villa in Laguna Beach by Intimate Living Interiors.

When I scan the latest photos posted on Instagram, I am thrilled when a new photo pops up on James Coviello‘s feed. His 1840’s Greek Revival getaway in Hudson Valley, NY is filled with incredible antiques (his passion) that are always impeccably styled. It feeds my need for traditional, imperfect, rough around the edges living – all with a little sparkle and shine and Maurice the adorable pup.

An elegantly whimsical apartment in Milan

London/Milan based designer Nicolo Castellini Baldissera created a colourful cacophony in this Milan apartment. It has a wonderful European, travelled sensibility and all of the beautiful colours on the walls really add life and dimension. (Photos: Guido Taroni)

Stylish by the sea

Not too many photos but more than enough to let me know that this Jupiter Island house by architect firm Thomas Melhorn with interiors by Betsy Brown is not your ordinary beachside home. Stylish and sophisticated yet relaxed and welcoming. Just right for getaways or even better for a forever home.
