Ornate plaster details and stunning floors set the stage for a sophisticated mix of mid century, traditional and contemporary pieces in this Valencia home by Estudio María Santos. Timeless and functional yes but always with that certain something, that style. Favourite details? Dining in a library and the art … and the vintage design classics … and … and …

We uniquely reimagined this country estate and distinguished our design by its historic architecture, creating a dwelling that is equal parts past and present. Old-age European lifestyle and new-age sustainability are some of the hallmarks of our work and this home was intentionally imbued with character and richness, using vintage wherever possible. Throughout the home, we installed 80% vintage lighting and 60% vintage finds to support our sustainable ethos and convey a collected home full of sensible luxury.
I adore the moody colour palette (whiskey room is Farrow & Ball’s Pantalon, kitchen cabinets are Drab) and textural materials (they are clearly huge fans of shearling chairs) used throughout this home designed by Light and Dwell. Epic cozy levels here. Photos: Tim Lenz.

Casa Cedros is located in Jalisco, Mexico and is an inspiring example of blending and engaging with the surroundings. Oak floors, cedar joinery and local stone are foundational and really does bring the surrounding nature inside providing a seamless experience. Keeping the colours very neutral helps emphasis the peace and calm that this home evokes. Designed by Aagnes. Photos: César Béjar.
Built in 1894 by Swiss architect Paul Page in the style of a Moorish villa, this home in south-eastern France is secluded amidst lush gardens and was home to architect and decorator Frédéric Méchiche (who passed away in 2021 from COVID). I would have guessed this was located in Morocco not France but either way it is an exquisite escape and absolutely stunning inside and out. I am in love with every bit of it – the arches, dome-shaped ceilings, tile roof, chequered cement tile floors, a winter garden room, 3 reception rooms, an annex for guests, a roof terrace, a pool and gardens that are to die for.
