Sharing some more outdoor spaces and gardens designed by Tim Pilgrim. They are just the right amount of structure and informality. That is what I consider a perfect garden.
Designer Charlotte Barnes‘ Connecticut carriage house is absolutely adorable on the outside and a treasure trove of vintage and antiques on the inside. Each piece is so unique and very much an eclectic blend of styles in each space, which I adore. The family room is my favourite. The paisley wallpaper is a wonderful layer and backdrop to the English, Swedish and other random pieces that make the space so inviting. Photos: Francesco Lagnese.
Studio Ashby‘s latest project is a colourful, light-filled modern home that beautifully balances vibrancy and elegance. Large windows flood the space with natural light, bold eclectic furnishings and art pieces create a lively atmosphere while thoughtful design elements ensure comfort and functionality.

Located in Melbourne’s leafy inner suburbs, Heyington Residence is a renovation by 11:11 of a 1930s interwar home, originally inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. The studio preserved and honoured these ideas, focusing on quality materials and craftsmanship. Despite losing many original details during a 1990s renovation they reinstated the home’s charm with modern functionalities. Intricate timber panelling in the study guided new joinery complemented by natural stone and polished plaster. The result is a contemporary family home blending modern comfort with historical character.

Oak Cottage is a private garden in the Central Victorian Highlands town of Macedon, an hours drive north of Melbourne. The aim with this garden was to frame the original 1900’s weatherboard facade with an era appropriate naturalistic cottage style garden. The garden needed to be sympathetic to both its bush surrounds, and the existing 100 year old English oak.
I’m trying to not get emotional about this absolutely magical outdoor space but it is very difficult. If my next home is going to end up with a fair amount of land, I will be looking to this for inspiration. Designed by Tim Pilgrim.
