Old and new in a 1859 Victorian in Massachusetts

This 1869 Victorian home in Cambridge, Massachusetts is an absolute beauty inside and out brimming with original details that luckily the homeowners and Reath Design embraced. (The older I get and the more I hear about homes this beautiful being demolished or stripped of all their character, the more I appreciate people who aim to preserve the original). This is so whimsical and heartwarming, and even though I am not a fan of blue, the gorgeous muddy red of the dining room (Book Room Red by Farrow & Ball) and that sweet willow wallpaper are everything. Symmetrical architecture has always been my favorite and this house is perfect. Gorgeous! The inside I like as well. (When people own buildings like this they should put them on their local historic registry for future saving.)

Asha says:

I love every single project I’ve seen from Frances Merrill and Reath Design. She has such an original style that also respects the integrity of each home’s architecture.
