Wallter

I’m always on the lookout for cool wall applications, whether it be murals, wallpaper, whatever. Wallter carries some really fun shapes that are available through 2Modern. They are lightweight pieces that have a peel-away 3M adhesive backing. The applications can be applied to almost any interior wall or door. They are wood based, and come primed and ready for painting.

Wallter also carries mobiles, wool flannel pillows and bedspreads that I love for that modern touch to a space. And a wool flannel bedspread would be SO welcomed with the onset of cold weather. I’d never leave the bedroom, nor would my cats.

Minimalism in Amsterdam

Posted on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 by KiM

I awoke this morning to find an email from James in my inbox (thank you for wanting to share this with our readers James!): “I have recently finished decorating a small apartment in Amsterdam. As a foreigner to Holland (originally from the UK, but studied and worked in Australia and Germany) I developed an interest in dutch mid-century design and furniture. Alot of the Dutch furniture is not so well known outside NL, and I am sure could be of interest to your readers.” So much about James’ photos impressed me – the architecture, the spaciousness, the soaring windows, the lack of stuff, the great mid-century pieces he’s collected by Martin Visser, Rob Parry, Verner Panton, Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Eames…

I’ll start with James’ old apartment in Amsterdam that he had rented.

James had to move out of that apartment which prompted him to buy a place. Here is the new apartment that he owns, and part of the renovation included painting the floors white. See? When you think you’ve made up your mind about a paint colour and them you see photos like this…

Jealous

I desperately crave homes with architectural interest as mine is completely lacking. When I found this home on Lagerlings, I was in awe of the spaces, and how interesting the details are. One day…

Emily Followill

I really enjoyed the portfolio of photographer Emily Followill. “Concise, crisp and classic, she tells a story with beautiful, balanced photographs and a natural quality of light. Emily demonstrates a passion and an eye for simple beauty in the most complex settings.” Her work has been published in magazines such as Veranda, Traditional Home and Better Homes and Gardens. It continues the pretty theme I seemed to have started yesterday.

Daron Chatz

I need a little pretty today because outside my windows it is snowy and cold and windy, or HELL as I like to call it. Pretty comes in the form of photography by Daron Chatz. His portfolio managed to calm my nerves a tad, so I thank him for that.
