Joanna Moorehouse

When you love what you’re doing it shows in your work. Finnish (and half English) photographer Joanna Moorehouse obviously loves what she does. Her work is refreshing and bright, real and believable. These are rooms that we could walk right into and make ourselves at home. Joanna’s photos make us feel that way and that’s her work done.

Retro returns!

Posted on Mon, 1 Feb 2010 by midcenturyjo

… yes that’s Ali McGraw in her late 70s pad

The scanner is fixed and my stock of retro design books replenished. At long long last it is the return of the retrolicious, the retro revolting and the retro just might be redeemable. Make up your own mind as I present for your delight and mortification scans from The Apartment Book, by the editors of Apartment Life magazine, Meredith Corporation, 1980. Who would have thought? Build your own 3 mannequin arm table (I have the instructions if you need them), corrugated cardboard as a blind and a hammock that never looked less appealing! (If you are new to Desire to Inspire and have never immersed yourself in my retro obsession click here to see all my previous posts… if your dare.)

A stylist’s work is never done.! Room after room, set after set for magazines, catalogues, advertisements, photo shoots of all types. No time for anything else… except perhaps a blog, a stylish blog. This is the portfolio of Emily Henderson, stylist and flea market addict. Gorgeous don’t you think? And the blog? The Brass Petal. So much to explore and enjoy.

Karl Anderson

Take a New Zealander. Wind his career path through Australia, the States, Singapore and land him in Sweden after training with some of the best photographers around and who do you get? Karl Anderson. Love the vibe of these photos. As you can imagine there are influences from all around the world but with his present base that bright white Swedish light shines through in many of these. As for the iconic furniture pieces in a number of these shots, well what can a blogger do but sigh! Great shots, great talent. Images from Karl’s website and from his rep’s.
