James Mohn

Domestic, it’s a lovely word. I conjures up images if home and family and the everyday. I found it interesting that architectural and interior design firm James Mohn Design Studio uses it in their profile. “…. contemporary domestic environments that are beautifully proportioned, integrated with their site and relevant to their context.” Not the word residential as so many websites use. Domestic. Yes James Mohn designs truly beautiful contemporary spaces but more importantly they consider their inhabitants, families and real people.

Andi Pepper studied art before becoming an interior designer, sculpture and painting to be precise. It shows. “…. the idea of using space as a clean palette empowered her and allowed her to take a fresh and personalized approach to interior design which she has developed to this day.” The look is clean and fresh, modern with a nod to tradition. I’ve highlighted Andi’s residential work but she’s known for her hotel design so make sure you check out her hospitality portfolio.

This image has been in my inspiration files for such a long time. I spied it in Real Living magazine and bookmarked it. I love it! The photographer is Richard Birch, ex-Londoner now resident in Australia. He’s shot for all the major Brit interior magazines and it’s easy to see why. These photos have such a fabulous vibe. Fresh and funky they have beautiful lighting and interesting composition and angles. Don’t miss Richard’s other portfolios especially his derelict tram series. Great shots!

Whether contemporary or classic, it is scale, proportion, and a sense of timelessness that imbue interior designer Beth Webb’s portfolio. Her work is crisp and clean just like the subtle linen used often in her work. These rooms have a casual elegance that is so calm and zen like.
