Last week we dipped our toes in retro pools. This week it’s time for tea on the terrace or a party on our patio. Al fresco living never looked so good. It’s hard to believe these outdoor rooms are over 30 years old. Scanned once again from Pools and Terraces, House & Garden Guide to Landscaping and Furnishing, Gail Heathwood, Collins London and Glasgow in association with Conde Nast, 1974.

The firm of Hare + Klein has been a leader in Australian interior design since the late 80s. Their creativity and experience produce innovative designs of quality highlighted by attention to detail. I’ve included a room from the 80s in these photos and if you manage to pick it I think you’ll agree it was fashion forward and so daring for the time… just like Hare + Klein still are today.
“We create a commissioned piece of art for our clients. Art in which they live or work.” That’s how Wendy Blount describes her designs. Style arbiter and rising star on the Atlanta design scene she brings a fresh perspective to classic and contemporary interiors. Her European background shows in her elegant and relaxed portfolio.
…. this furniture! The distressed leather in that rich hue. The shape of the sofa and the nail head detail. The playful fat tufting of the ottoman and that cocktail table. OMG don’t get me started. Where pray tell do these glam meets rock meets Hollywood meets hedonist’s playpen pieces come from? Check out Bradley Hughes. They are Atlanta based and hot, hot hot. Here’s another image Michelle Bradley emailed. Check out the full range here. Seriously lust worthy.
