An apartment in Biarritz inspired by the view

Posted on Thu, 14 Oct 2021 by KiM

You would think ocean views in an apartment in Biarritz would be the shining moment but this entire apartment is designed with the most exquisite attention to detail with lots of curves and colours and patterns inspired by the ocean and the views from the windows. An absolute gem inside and out. Designed by Claude Cartier. Photos by Francis Amiand.

The collector

This Justicia, Madrid apartment is not only light-filled but overflowing with antiques, artworks and a joyous, maximalist spirit. Not for the faint hearted (the dusting alone must take a week before one has to start all over again) but always intriguing, tempting. Elegant, sophisticated and just a little challenging. The perfect home for an enquiring mind by Ramon Garcia Jurado.

A Spanish Revival home in Los Angeles

Posted on Wed, 6 Oct 2021 by KiM

This 1926 Spanish Revival home in Los Angeles is yet another example of Frances Merrill of Reath Design‘s creativity and brilliant use of colour and pattern. This time it is a bit more subtle than most of her projects, but that allows the architecture of the home to stand out and take centre stage. Casual and playful and every detail is worth taking note. Glin Castle in Ireland

Posted on Sun, 3 Oct 2021 by KiM

Glin Castle is an incredible 20,000 square foot, 14th century, 18-bedroom, 18-bath Georgian house in Ireland owned by actor Dominic West, his wife Catherine Fitzgerald and 2 of her sisters (having been in their family since it’s creation). They have lovingly restored the castle and used it as a retreat, but now it’s available to book privately. What an absolutely breathtaking piece of history. Surfside Montauk

I am in complete denial that summer is over. I am trying to mentally prepare myself to be frozen and miserable for the next 6+ months. In the meantime I will continue to deny the inevitable by staring longingly at summer homes such as this neutral, modern Montauk beauty by Alexander Design.
