Palo Alto Eichler

Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2023 by midcenturyjo

The Atelier Davis team worked with Gustave Carlson Architects to renovate and expand a historic Eichler for a young family with a modern art collection.  Bright, colourful and fun staying true to the Eichler bones but adding the owners’ personalities. Mid-century modern never looked so good.

With its minimalist lines, natural finishes and archways for doors this Brooklyn Brownstone by New York-based interior designers Jae Joo Designs has an almost zen-like feel. Imbued with beauty and streamlined function as well as a soft colour palette it is restrained and elegant.

Natural, earthy yet elegant, at times golden with the light and always generous. This renovation in Orinda, California by Lauren Nelson embraces the handmade and bespoke, adds architectural detail back into the scheme and results in an old world meets organic minimalism feel.

Living vicariously

Posted on Mon, 16 Jan 2023 by midcenturyjo

We all do it especially on blogs like this. We live vicariously, daydreaming about moving into fabulous homes. I sooooooo want to move into this Soho apartment by Jessica Schuster. Of course it’s her own. Sophisticated, eclectic and for me perfect.

Traditional Spanish tiles, mid-century pieces and a riot of colour. Shouldn’t work? Hell yes, it does. Packed with personality and fun San Sebastián-based interior designer Mikel Irastorza respects the traditional Spanish roots of the building then starts layering … and layering … and layering. Fabulous fun!
