Rich earth

“We were commissioned to re-imagine the informal living room, entrance hall and the master bedroom. Taking cues from the colour palette defined by the client we assembled a series of statement pieces that created unexpected moments, like the oversized Sammode Studio lamp and Dedar wallpapered ceiling. The unique mix of vintage, pre-owned and new pieces also includes a restored Italian book case, a Florence Knoll credenza and the Italian Gronda Mirror/Coat Racks. Despite working with an earthy palette, we succeeded in creating a richly textured series of spaces that are sophisticated yet accessible.”

Earthy and rich, unexpected and inspiring. Harking to the past and definitely ahead of the curve.  An atmospheric reworking of old spaces. What else would you expect from Melbourne’s style maven Simone Haag?

Modern glam in a renovated New York home

This stately, elegant home in Old Westbury, New York, was designed by Michelle Gerson who played up the elegance of the architecture and went balls to the wall with it. It is modern, sophisticated and imbued with a glamorous WOW factor room by room. (Photos: Douglas Friedman & Howard W. Christian)

A hunter-gatherer’s boho home

A treasure trove, a memory chest, the meeting of high drama and the authentic. Rip and shred, collect and find the soul. Welcome to the home of designer Aimee Wertepny of Chicago-based PROjECT. That bedroom will be floating around in my dreams for days to come.

Sophisticated, stylish and masculine this small apartment by St Petersberg-based interior designer Tim Veresnovsky uses a black and white colour palette and clever use of pattern to trick the eye into believing there is so much more space. Honey toned stone and timbers warm the scheme.

“The full refurbishment of an Arts and Crafts family home in North London, with a mid century vibe and an abundance of colour and texture. Lime paint, terrazzo flooring and cane were used extensively to breathe new life into this period property.”

I love modern living in a historic house and when it’s as sympathetically creative and colourful as this renovation by Studio Duggan then I love it even more!
