An apartment in Paris…

…or is it?

Israel-based Ando Studio designed this apartment in Saint Germain, Paris last year. The team of architects, interior designers and CG artists specialize in 3D renderings. So this apartment is….or isn’t…. Although either way it is freaking fantastic!

A contemporary extension to an existing character residential cottage in Brisbane, Queensland where it was important to retain the integrity of the original 1906 cottage while providing two levels of extra living space. Love the integration of inside and out including the sliding window walls and the now you see it, now you don’t bath. Wooloowin House by bureau^proberts.

Black and white

Another newbie on the Shoot Factory roster, this British home caught my eye the other day. This new build in the thriving seaside town of Aldeburgh was inspired by the fisherman’s huts on the beach and takes full advantage of the wonderful view across the marshes. With a modern, Scandinavian vibe in black and white, I could easily live here and not change much. And how about that kitchen! Black kitchens rock my world.

The drama of dark and light

I had a few free minutes before heading out to the Ottawa Antique & Vintage Market so I decided to spend this precious break perusing one of my favourite blogs, The Design Files. A couple of homes featured over the past couple of months really blew me away for their dramatic impact and I had to share some of the photos with you. First there was the home of Melbourne stylist, decorator and retailer Lynda Gardener – a converted warehouse whose all white space is the perfect backdrop for rustic, vintage treasures. Then there was the SOHO loft of Australian photographer Martyn Thompson, that is dramatic in its dark palette and random in its decor. Here, hand-painted murals by Martyn’s artist partner Dove Drury Hornbuckle take centre stage. Both are absolutely breathtaking.
