I’m stalking again. Walking down virtual streets, peering through the virtual nets and basically just being a virtual busy body. I love to see how people live even if it is a striped back and tidied up look to make the real estate listing photos just so. Today’s house in the Melbourne suburb of Armadale sports a late 19th century facade but a very modern rear addition and pool. The link to the listing is here while it lasts.

Simone Haag “likes to think of a house as a blank page, an empty book – boundless, full of possibilities – a story wanting to be written, a tale waiting to be told.” In the case of this Melbourne house she has penned a best seller. It’s a collaboration between stylish fashion director client and designer, the end result being a sensationally chic and fashion forward house. That living room sends shivers up and down my spine and did you notice the gradation in the dining chairs? Sigh!

It was a dated 70s townhouse in inner city Melbourne but after its transformation by architect Lisa Breeze it’s a stylish home with great design chops. The bricks and rough sawn timber remain but with a contemporary look and as for that kitchen … it has my singing the blues in a good way. A fresh, fun take on modern retro.

Interior designer Nuria Alia calls it a Sensory Alarm Clock (it was her design for Casa Decor 2017). A super fun, super sunshiny (is that a word?) place to start your day. Pastel pops and pattern play, shiny metals and sleek velvet all with a nod to Art Deco. What a way to up the energy levels.
