A colourful Apartment

Posted on Mon, 17 Jun 2019 by midcenturyjo

Is it a pop-up shop in a home or a home where you can stay and take home the sofa if you happen to love it? Why it’s both! Owner Tina Seidenfaden Busck reimagines The Apartment each year, presenting a carefully curated and continually changing collection of art and design objects from the 20th century as well as pieces by renowned contemporary designers. This year you can even book a stay. It’s my dream of living in a shop come to life. I love the evolution of The Apartment over the years and particularly this summer’s celebration of colour, pattern and different cultures.

Malene Birger’s Italian villa

Posted on Sun, 26 May 2019 by KiM

Danish fashion designer Malene Birger should have really started her career as an interior designer. Her 1905 Italian stone house on a hillside with views of Lake Como is decorated with the most incredible maximalist, eclectic style that is blowing my mind. Black, white, brown and the most glorious ochre/mustard/spicey yellow I have ever seen, and a divinely random mix of vintage finds from flea markets and auctions around the world. Via Skönahem, photos by Birgitta Wolfgang.

I’m still real estate scrolling  and I’m still near the water but this time I’m in Jan Juc down on Victoria’s Surf Coast. OK this stylish bungalow isn’t so much a surf shack as it is a wonderful family home but it’s just down the road from the famous Bells Beach and that warrants a surf board or two on hand in the garage. Love the colourful Scandi vibe, the herringbone oak floors, the linen curtains, the wonderful pattern overload in the bedrooms. Fun, fresh and definitely all about the family. Link here while it lasts.

I’m real estate scrolling in the Melbourne bayside suburb of St Kilda and I think I’ve found the perfect pied-à-terre but it’s more than just somewhere to drop your bags and head out into cosmopolitan city. Small in size but definitely big in style. No wonder because this bijou gem is the work of interior stylist Lynda Gardener.  It’s going to auction next month. Seriously tempted. Link here while it lasts.

A renovated family home in Beverly Hills

Fresh, fun and family-friendly is how I would describe this beautiful renovated home by Veneer Designs. A full remodel on an outdated family home was started in 2016 with space planning the reconfiguration of two floors. Moving onto designing the new kitchen, 5 bathrooms, and all the details in between. When construction was coming to an end in early 2018 we jumped in to furnish and decorate the sparkly new interior with a mix of vivid glam furnishings, modern accents, and bold color combinations. The gracious new home is the perfect backdrop for the vivacious family of four to host large gatherings in. Photos: Marisa Vitale

And I had to include this before photo because this may be the worst kitchen I have ever seen!
