Russian Architect and designer Maria Marinina has created an oasis with this home, using an earthy, neutral colour palette and tons of textures. So serene and soothing, pared down and refined. No need for alot of stuff when you have so many textures to appreciate.

Is it just me, or does everything in every Paris apartment have some level of chicness no one else can get away with? There’s nothing exceptional about this apartment, but add in some to-die-for views out the windows, chevron hardwood floors (my dream), some cool tile and then add in a bunch of vintage furniture and accessories and it’s a total gem that is bright and cozy. Hey folks. I got back yesterday from the most amazing 2 week trip to my favourite places – Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita, Mexico. If you have been following the blog a while you’ll know I do this trek almost every winter and I can’t get enough. This time it was husband and I staying at the condo in PV my folks’ rent each year – 3.5 months this time – and then because we love the bohemian surf town of Sayulita so much, we rented a totally adorable Airbnb there for 3 nights partway through the trip. We ate at soooo many incredible restaurants, shopped and shopped and shopped (I need to look into the cost of a shipping container LOL), and lay in the sun for as many hours as possible. I cannot think of a better way to welcome spring after such a horrendous winter (and to make me regret returning home even more, it had just snowed here in Ottawa). Our next objective is finding a way to move to Mexico…at least for the winter months. Here is a bit of a glimpse into our trip from some photos I grabbed off of my phone.

Evoke The Spirit

When I dream about living in Mexico, this is the sort of vibe that always comes to mind for the home I want to find there. Rustic, time-worn architecture that I can fill with vintage finds and the occasional modern light fixture or artwork. María Lladó nailed it with this home in Menorca she designed. I’d be quite happy vacationing here too.

What was an office in Madrid is now a drop dead gorgeous duplex with original details maintained such as marble fireplaces, cast iron columns, high ceilings, herringbone floors. The eclectic furnishings add a warmth and a somewhat Parisian vibe that I’m really falling for. Designed by Noel Marichalar.
