La Maison des Oliviers

Posted on Fri, 24 Sep 2021 by KiM

This stunning property owned in the small town of Noto, in the south of Sicily is 330 sq m with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and is owned and designed by Jacques Garcia and available to rent. The Maison des Oliviers, located on a World Heritage site, is surrounded by numerous olive trees dating back two thousand years. The Villa, surrounded in this landscape, evokes the golden age in the 1950’s Café Society and an aristocracy which embraced modernity while remaining linked to the past. Upon entering the villa, the collection of art and objects will transport you into the culture of the 20th century. One can imagine seeing Maria Callas chatting with Jackie Kennedy, being hosted by Gianni Agnelli.

More bold colour from Anthony George

I could not love this more, another gem that is in classic Anthony George style. Uniue colour combinations, fun fabrics, a bit of a tribal vibe, and a cute pup to boot.

Harlem curated color

Take a boring, highrise apartment completely lacking character, add lots of bold colours and patterns and artwork and you have yourself a knock-out! This Harlem apartment by designer Anthony George proves you can add so much personality and interest though paint and carefully curated furnishings, art and accessories.

Maximalist

“Like a sculptor who lives and works among hundreds of moulds, mallets and chisels. Like a painter who always needs his brushes close at hand to capture the colourful images in his mind’s eye. Like a couturier who receives his clientèle surrounded by bolts of cloth. That’s how Gert Voorjans lives and works in Antwerp.”

Bravo! A triumph of maximalism, visually stunning and not for the faint of heart. Atelier Hors Catégorie by iconic Belgian tastemaker and interior architect Gert Voorhans.

Island dreams

Posted on Mon, 30 Aug 2021 by midcenturyjo

Normally when I dream of an island getaway it involves palm trees, white sands and a Bali style pavilion or two. Today’s island dream is an old shipbuilder’s cabin on Vashon Island in Washington’s Puget Sound. Designers Hoedemaker Pfeiffer wove their magic over a year, gut-renovating and reinstating the history and personality of the house. An island dream indeed!
