Bah humbug round 2

Posted on Mon, 16 Dec 2013 by midcenturyjo

Any closer to getting into the Christmas spirit? I’m still floundering. Here is my next attempt at getting my holiday mojo back. Introducing my vintage book Christmas tree stack. Now my decorations amount to candles in brass sticks and old books. You’ll be pleased to know that for safety sake they are in different rooms 😉

Holiday decorating in Gastown

Posted on Thu, 12 Dec 2013 by KiM

Vancouver’s interior design firm Falken Reynolds started ‘Decorate Gastown’ 3 years ago as a way to say thank you to shop owners for their part in making Gastown such a great neighbourhood to live and work. The shops pay only for the cost of materials and a team of volunteers brings each concept to life. The ideas they came up with are FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!

Inside Out

Christmas! Really? Christmas already? Wasn’t it only New Year’s Eve a couple of months ago? I was shocked into action when the crew at Inside Out sent me a sneak peek at the cover story of the November issue, “Comfort & Joy” with words by Clare Patience, styling by Julia Green and photography by Armelle Habib. Love the casually stylish, beach meets scandi meets handmade vibe of both the decorations and the house. Can’t wait to to devour the rest of the magazine.

Aussie readers can pick up their copy Thursday. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand. I’ve been reading for a couple of months on Zinio and I love it. Still think I’ll be picking up a real copy though. Can’t break the habit.

Another year older. Another year wiser. Another year spent bringing you inspiration. Thank you for being here with us day after day. You know you are our friends. You make it all worth while. We hope your holiday season is merry and bright. And one day Kim, all your Christmases won’t be white… especially if you come visit me in the subtropics!

Dressed up for the holidays

Posted on Sun, 23 Dec 2012 by KiM

I am finally done my Christmas preparations (besides food) and can start to relax for my week off from the day job (check out my super cheap gift wrapping solution on my page). Since I’m in the holiday mood, I thought I’d share a couple of really cute apartments I found on Micasa that are spruced up with a bit of festive decor. P.S. Jo and I never quit, so there will be blog posts up throughout the holidays. We typically do blog reading lists and favourites rooms from this past year so don’t forget to stop by!
