File Under Pop

Posted on Fri, 26 Oct 2018 by KiM

Copenhagen based studio File Under Pop specializes in surface design. Directed by Josephine Akvama Hoffmeyer, they transform rooms by clothing walls, floors and ceilings with handmade tiles from clay and lava stone, hand painted wallpaper and exclusive paint. All of their products are processed entirely by hand, combining antique craftsmanship with modern technology, resulting in characteristic and unique surfaces and finishes. Texture and colors are the keywords of File Under Pop. And the results are so beautiful I had to share.

A colourful family home

White walls (and the odd grey one here and there) don’t mean bland and monochromatic. No they can be the jumping off point for a home full of colour. It’s all about what you put in your space. Large, bright art works, a yellow chandelier (hello!), pattern on pattern cushions and throws and a statement rug or two. What’s not to love about this family home in the Melbourne suburb of Armadale! By the dynamic design duo Studio Stamp.

Citrus Scandi

Take an apartment with amazing bones such as soaring windows, ornate plaster cornices, herringbone floors and Swedish tile stoves. Fill it with the best of contemporary furniture (blonde wood obligatory of course). A monochromatic paint palette would be all  that was needed to achieve the much coveted Scandi style home. But add a slice or two of citrus oomph and it takes it to a whole other level. Talk about zing!!! Renovation of a former white and bland office space into a warm modern home by Stockholm-based Note Design Studio.

A colourful Hackney Victorian

Posted on Sun, 7 Oct 2018 by KiM

I don’t know that I would ever want to surround myself with lots of bold colours and a really maximalist way of decorating but that doesn’t stop me from grinning ear to ear when I spot a home like this. This wild coloured and vintage-to-the-rafters Victorian home in Hackney may not be for everyone, but it sure is cheerful! Via jj Locations.

A hip haven in Hayes Valley

I needed a pick-me-up/distraction today as I am trying desperately not to cough up a lung as I have been inflicted with the raging back-to-school cold that everyone in town seems to have caught. And I don’t even have kids! This super bright, relaxing and just really fun home designed by Regan Baker in Hayes Valley, San Francisco is really lifting my spirits. I really love the chill, modern vibe going on here. (Photos: Suzanna Scott)
