The cabin + the snug

Posted on Thu, 15 Aug 2019 by KiM

I dream of owning a cabin in the woods, a refuge from city life. If that dream ever becomes reality, I want it to look exactly like the Anderson Island, Washington cabin and snug of interior designer Heidi Caillier. Not many people would go dark like this but kudos to Heidi for taking a risk and completely nailing it. (Photos: Haris Kenjar)

Dark drama in an apartment in France

Posted on Wed, 7 Aug 2019 by KiM

I wanted to share another apartment by Lyon-based designer Claude Cartier and this one is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the last post. This one has a definite masculine vibe with hard edges, dark colours and no pink in sight! Black, green and yellow are the colour pallette and are really beautiful and dramatic together. And this one feels “Parisian”.

I love to see people take risks in the world of interior design, even if it isn’t to my taste nor something I can imagine living in. If it’s ballsy I give it 2 thumbs up. Like this all black apartment in St. Petersburg I found on The Village. Black from floor to ceiling, sparkly drippy chandeliers, swag burgundy curtains and bedding. I hate to say it but had I not known what website this was from my first guess would have been it was located in Russia. Do you think you could live here?

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere super stylish … like the theatrical showroom of Brisbane jewellery designer Christie Nicolaides by architectural studio Richards & Spence.
