Mr and Mrs Charlie

Posted on Wed, 8 May 2013 by midcenturyjo

Welcome to the wonderland home of Mr and Mrs Charlie. Charlie Kinyon, an artist working in Austin and Sydney  and Melissa Ninham creator and maker, weaver of wire and rope and dreams. Together they create and explore. This is a way of thinking, a way of living, a way of creating beauty, an expression and a statement. I love it. I wish I could live like this. (At least for a few days…. I think that is all I’d be brave enough to do.) Finding beauty in the old, the odd, the found, the discarded. You can see more on their blog and their instagram.

Man Cave

Dark, moody, masculine and down by the harbour. Not quite what you expect for boathouse living. Love the texture, the old wood, the play of white light against murky walls and the pops of yellow. Yes, in this case, I think pop is just the right word. A wonderful man cave by Sydney interior designer Karen Akers. Imagine sitting snug inside on a wild and windy rainy day.

Dark boy

Dark and moody. The room, not the teenage boy I can see dumping piles of clothes in the corner and stayying up late into the night by the glow of a computer screen. By Sydney based Designers In The City.

Helen Quinn

Beautiful rich colour studies by stylist and artist Helen Quinn. Dark and brooding and saturated her work plays with texture, juxtaposition and natural dyes and finishes. No pictures of stylish chairs in beautiful rooms but just as inspiring. The dark side still tugs at my heart strings.

Lombard & Jack is the Melbourne-based interior design firm of Kath Lombard and Jackie Johnston that was established in only 2011. They’ve got some amazing projects under their belt already – each one with a dash of drama, a dab of glam, and a dollop of relaxed modernism.
