Jessica Leigh Interiors

Posted on Fri, 15 Nov 2019 by KiM

Toronto-based Jessica McGouran of Jessica Leigh Interiors is a new-to-me designer and I’m so glad I found her. After perusing her portfolio I was quite smitten with her eye for the graphic (via colour, pattern and texture) and her eclectic yet timeless outlook on interiors.

Reader’s home

Posted on Fri, 8 Nov 2019 by midcenturyjo

Kim and I get to share some of the most inspirational homes from around the world but the best homes of all are our readers’ homes. I loved it when long time follower Jagoda Owczarek from Gdańsk, Poland sent us photos of the home she shares with her husband, 3 children and cat. Design has always been her passion and now having completed her studies she has opened her own business O!studio. If her stylish home is anything to go by then she will have nothing but success.

It’s small, it’s old and dare I say a little rickety but it’s packed full of character and life. Add in a killer central Sydney location and a fabulous Aboriginal art collection and I’m hooked. (How retrolicious is that Albert Namatjira prints vignette on the landing?) The land size is only 76m² and the auction price guide is $1.6 million so I won’t be buying but I can dream I’m the current owner and not the one who will buy it and redevelop it. For sale in Darlinghurst here while the link lasts.

A marriage of modern and vintage

This four storey Georgian town house is a wonderful mix of new and old. Think contemporary kitchen with poured concrete floors, flashes of retro orange, moody rooms in the older part of the house, vintage finds and a myriad of house plants. Fun, flirt and fab. Chasing the dream – cool by the sea

Posted on Thu, 31 Oct 2019 by midcenturyjo

Contemporary by the sea with a mid century vibe taken to the next level with terracotta floors, limewashed ceilings, concrete accents and Oblica fireplace. Add in the bold art works and on point furnishings and this is one cool beach shack in Jan Juc on Victoria’s Surf Coast. Unfortunately for us it has been quickly snapped up. Link here while it lasts.
