Habachy Designs

Posted on Wed, 1 Aug 2018 by KiM

It has been years since we have featured some spaces designed by Michael Habachy (here and here). It appears that in almost 10 years he still remains true to his signature style – as Jo had put it, it’s glamorous and broody, high end and hedonistic, OTT and fab. I would say he has toned things down a bit, and gone a bit less OTT and a bit more elegant, and not quite so dark. In the end it is more liveable and easy on the eye.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I stumbled upon this new location home available via Shoot Factory. The homeowners clearly have a thing for mid-century Italian style (think Gio Ponti, Carlo Scarpa). Built in 1890 this 6 story Victorian has been refurbished with the most wonderful finishings like onyx, marble, leather and lots and lots of brass. There is even a screening room and spa/plunge pool and gym with a leather clad ballet bar and mirrored wall in the basement. Absolutely breathtaking!

A little bit of glam, bling, and colour for your Thursday afternoon care of China-based designer Baptiste BohuLocated in one of the most luxurious residential tower of Shanghai, this apartment occupies the entire floor. The owners, a young and well traveled Chinese couple, share their life between Shanghai and Vancouver. They wanted a modern yet comfortable and elegant interior for their Shanghai apartment. Baptiste used premium materials which gave a very chic look and worked with a mix of French style and contemporary furniture.

Ines Mazzotta of Kelly Hopter Interiors is a designer based in Toronto whose aesthetic I instantly fell in love with. Glamorous, Parisian chic and dramatic. Many of these photos, including the first 6, are of her 140 year old home she has transformed into an absolutely gem for her family.

Stalking on a Saturday

I’m stalking a confection of a house in Sydney’s Watson Bay. A converted 1920’s Masonic Hall that has undergone a “Frenchification”. So many beautiful glimpses at what has been because unfortunately it has been sold for quite some time. A girl can still dream can’t she? Don’t miss the video for so much more. Link here while it lasts and if you are intertested in what it looked like when it sold in 2015 check out here.
