Toronto-based Jessica McGouran of Jessica Leigh Interiors is a new-to-me designer and I’m so glad I found her. After perusing her portfolio I was quite smitten with her eye for the graphic (via colour, pattern and texture) and her eclectic yet timeless outlook on interiors.

Such a well considered balance. All chocolate box thatched cottage on the outside. All modern living expectations on the inside. Icing on the cake? More than enough historical character internally preserved to keep you smiling sweetly. Gloucestershire Cottage by Sarah Delaney Design.

It’s small, it’s old and dare I say a little rickety but it’s packed full of character and life. Add in a killer central Sydney location and a fabulous Aboriginal art collection and I’m hooked. (How retrolicious is that Albert Namatjira prints vignette on the landing?) The land size is only 76m² and the auction price guide is $1.6 million so I won’t be buying but I can dream I’m the current owner and not the one who will buy it and redevelop it. I spotted this home on AD Russia and it stopped me in my tracks. Ukrainian architect Sergey Makhno built this home for his family, to showcase his love of Ukranian and Japanese design, and his incredible ceramic collection. Each room is more incredible than the next. I adore this.

Inspired by grand Parisian apartments and the elegance of Art Deco this Sydney residence is impressive not only for its luxury finishes and attention to detail but for its location right in the CBD. A trophy apartment for sure but I’d like to soften its edges just a little, warm it up a tad. A luxurious silk rug across those striking floors, a few more stand out art works.
