A colourful and eclectic Cotswolds cottage

Posted on Tue, 24 Oct 2023 by KiM

This drop dead gorgeous cottage in the Cotswolds is the weekend home of designer/decorator couple Duncan Campbell and Luke Edward Hall. Full of colour, exuberance, whimsy, and an unparalleled eclecticism, this home is so freaking fabulous I can hardly stand it. If you ever thought about getting a second home thinking it would be a great excuse to try out colours that you don’t have the nerve to use in your primary home, here is proof that you need to make that happen! (Though as you will see in an upcoming post, this talented duo went as crazy with colour in their primary residence). Photos: Miguel Flores-Vianna & Billal Taright.

What is not to love about this kitchen?! It has EVERYTHING on my kitchen wish-list – cabinetry painted in the prettiest green (Calke Green by Farrow & Ball), black and white checkered tile floor, marble and tile backsplashes, a big Wolf range, and the pièce de résistance – original wood paneling and ceiling/beams that were sandblasted and refinished. It’s PERFECT. Designed by Jaqui Seerman. Photos: Jess Isaac.

An English Colonial home in Upstate NY

We uniquely reimagined this country estate and distinguished our design by its historic architecture, creating a dwelling that is equal parts past and present. Old-age European lifestyle and new-age sustainability are some of the hallmarks of our work and this home was intentionally imbued with character and richness, using vintage wherever possible. Throughout the home, we installed 80% vintage lighting and 60% vintage finds to support our sustainable ethos and convey a collected home full of sensible luxury.
I adore the moody colour palette (whiskey room is Farrow & Ball’s Pantalon, kitchen cabinets are Drab) and textural materials (they are clearly huge fans of shearling chairs) used throughout this home designed by Light and Dwell. Epic cozy levels here. Photos: Tim Lenz.

A colourful period townhouse in West Sussex

Posted on Wed, 4 Oct 2023 by KiM

This charming period property in Midhurst was in urgent need of an overhaul after being a rental for many years. The ground floor felt very cramped and had an awkward layout, whilst upstairs was riddled with damp issues. We completed a full design and build on this property, with a good sized ground floor extension and a total refurbishment. This allowed for an inviting kitchen and dining area which was perfect for our clients’ to entertain and spend time with their family. Carefully considered colour was injected into all the rooms, together with playful fabrics and unique vintage furniture.
This home is now brimming with personality thanks to the kaleidoscope of colour used throughout. It is tantalizing right from the entryway and invites you inside with open arms. By Vaughan Design & Development.

The owners of this semi-detached home in Dublin, Ireland approached interior design studio (and interior + lifestyle store) April and the Bear to refresh and modernize their dated and boring family home. The design team refurbished most rooms and injected some personality with new paint and wallpaper, bespoke furniture and wall beading, new carpets, curtains, furniture and lighting. The result is very much family-friendly, provides lots of storage, has a really “now” vibe and is a huge improvement from what they started with. They sent over before and after photos so you can see just how transformed these spaces are. Check it out! (Photos: Philip Lauterbach)
