A maximalist Paris pied-à-terre

Posted on Tue, 20 Sep 2016 by KiM

Every project of British interior designer Hubert Zandberg gives me heart palpitations and completely blows my mind. His maximalist, graphic and vintage-loving approach to interiors is everything I love about interior design, and this Paris pied-à-terre is yet another example of his brilliance. I need to go shopping with him SO SOOOO badly.

Sparrow House by Ministry of Interior Affairs

Marcin and Magda Konopka of Polish design firm Ministerstwo Spraw We Wnętrzach (Ministry of Interior Affairs) are back at it with another modern gem of a project. This one has a mid century modernist twist and accents in bright yellow throughout, keeping things cheerful and fun. There’s my favourite tumbling block pattern tile used in a few places, and holy smokes the upholstered bed alcove is gorgeous!!

Fusion of art deco and modern

Ninou Etienne of Fusion D is all about the fusion of drop dead gorgeous original architecture in dwellings around Bordeaux, France and the modernist sensibilities of her clients. In this home Ninou added graphic elements with tile and wallpaper for some drama and playfulness. You walk through the door and BOOM!

Dark walls, accents in orange, Panton S chairs, Vladimir Tretchikoff art (I have the ‘Chinese Girl’ print above over my living room fireplace)…..what’s not to love about this project by Belfast, Northern Ireland-based Maven? It is bold and whimsical, and their online shop is pretty fabulous too – they carry Hay, Ferm Living, Marimekko, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen etc.

Cassandra Ellis

With a personal aesthetic of simplicity, warmth and beauty, New Zealand-born, London-based furniture and homewares designer Cassandra Ellis has created a home that mirrors her belief in quiet, unforced, graceful spaces. Her style and philosophy, the idea of home as a meditation on living, resonate so strongly with me.
