Es Bec D’Aguila

Posted on Mon, 5 Aug 2019 by KiM

Es Bec D’Aguila is an exquisite Mediterranean estate (or finca) located in Menorca, in the Balearic Islands and is available for weekly rental. It started out in the 19th century when a family of Menorcan merchants built it as their  weekend getaway, and its current owners recently renovated it and brought it back to life. The original vaulted ceilings, handmade Cuban tiles, breathtaking landscape and gorgeous decor make this an absolute dream of a destination. (Photos: Karel Balas)

A holiday house in Umbria 1

Posted on Fri, 2 Aug 2019 by midcenturyjo

TGIF! Time to escape on a little Italian holiday. For those of you who found the strict minimalism of Wednesday’s Tuscan stone house just a little too spartan (read boring) then today we’re crossing into Umbria to a large farmhouse that has been divided in very private apartments. I can hear your collective sigh from here. That’s better! Love the vintage meets industrial meets stone farmhouse vibe. Just perfect for a relaxed family or friends getaway. You can book a stay at Mazzo via Special Umbria and you can check out the sister apartment here.

A funky bungalow in Montauk

Posted on Fri, 19 Jul 2019 by midcenturyjo

Time to escape the everyday. Time for another virtual getaway. We’re headed to Montauk, New York,  a village at the east end of the Long Island peninsula but we’re not headed to a home full of  Hamptons’ clichés. No our getaway is a cool surf-inspired bungalow where mid century meets boho. Light, bright and perfect for up to 8 guests. I’m filing those exterior wall slats in my inspiration folder. Casa Pueblo

Time for a virtual getaway. We’re escaping to a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel Casa Pueblo in Tulum, Mexico. “At the nexus of tropical bohemianism and clean urban design, the hotel offers a host of features, from fresh dining options, to a sparkling pool, an organic coffee shop, and 16 beautifully appointed rooms.” Simple and stylish luxury in a beautiful part of the world. Couldn’t think of a better escape even if it’s only a virtual one … for now.

You knew I wouldn’t be able to stay away didn’t you? I just had to share one more property from The Houses Daylesford. St. Etienne is a Federation style home built in 1912 but with a minimalist, contemporary style surrounded by a woodland garden. It’s just a short stroll from Lake Daylesford and the centre of the township. Now we have a choice. Cosy fires in the country or a chance to escape the winter chill and soak up the sun in Byron Bay. Hmmmmm. Decisions. Decisions.
