Hotel Henriette Rive Gauche

Posted on Fri, 15 Jan 2016 by midcenturyjo

It’s almost like a drinking game. Colour blocking, dirty pastels, plywood, bedside pendant lights and coloured flex, retro furniture, cane mirrors and rooms with great French bones. Moroccan rugs, kilim chairs, sheepskins, leather gym pads as bedhead and indigo. Linen sheets, palm wallpaper, painted floors, tumbling block tiles and cane saucer chairs. Have we got all the trends covered? Who cares! I love it all! I want it all! Anyone else for a Parisian getaway to Hotel Henriette Rive Gauche?

Amsterdam-based design firm concrete has created a new brand concept in hotel rooms, Zoku, a live-work-socialize hybrid for long stay professionals. Great design not just for hotels but jam packed with cool ideas for any small space living.

Gunu Berrima

I think I just found my perfect weekend escape. Beautiful house, beautiful surroundings, salt water pool, tennis court, chicken coop, organic veggies, barn, an amazing mid century furniture collection and just 90 minutes from Sydney.

Gunu Berrima is a boutique retreat in the stunning Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. Just a short drive from the historic village of Berrima, the native bushland 100-acre property is home to a haven of Australian wildlife. The Tuscan homestead is engulfed by a natural food farm (Eat Fit Farm) producing a wide variety of fruit and vegetables for Sydney health food company (Eat Fit Food). The contemporary-meets-classic house interior has been custom-designed by celebrated decorator Jason Sullivan, with commissioned art from the new face of Italian abstract art, Marco Lorenzetto. Adorned with all the comforts of a holiday-house paradise, guests of the 3 suite retreat can enjoy the great Australian outdoors as well as tennis & swimming all from the privacy and comfort of the farm.”

If I could I’d stay forever. You can book Gunu Berrima at airbnb.

Alex Hotel

Perth’s newest boutique hotel, the Alex Hotel, is so cool, so funky, so hipster, so much fun. The interiors by Arent&Pyke are like a breath of fresh air. No stuffy, seen-it-all-before hotel rooms here. No. Young, fresh, fab. I can feel a trip to Western Australia on my horizon if only just to book in for a few days.

Kameha Grand Zürich

The Kameha Grand is a new hotel that opened in Zürich in March of this year. It is one of the most beautifully designed hotels I have ever seen, thanks to the talent and products of Dutch design guru Marcel Wanders. With modern architecture by tecArchitecture and neo-baroque interiors  by Mr. Wanders, this hotel has everything. It is luxurious and has themed rooms to match anyone’s desires. I need to plan a trip to Switzerland!
