… in Les Giettes, Swiss Alps, Switzerland. Except I’ve heard that it has been the driest autumn in Switzerland since…. well I wasn’t listening that closely… and there is no snow. Tell me it isn’t so! A girl from a subtropical land can dream of deep banks of snow though. And a girl who hates camping can dream of glamping with bathrooms and beds and hairdryers and heating and dinners provided. I thought I would help Kim with her French studies. A weekend away. A full French immersion experience. French food. French wine. Speaking only French. The food and wine are for me. The French is for Kim. I can’t speak a word and anyway it’s rude to speak French with your mouth full of French wine and French food. Thank goodness that week is over. I seem to find myself musing over holiday getaways on Fridays. I wonder why? I smell rose and musk, orange blossom and exotic spice. Water gurgles and staff whisper just out of earshot. There is  rhythmic music slowly pulsing somewhere in the riad but here in the salon it is cool and dark, peaceful but oh so decadent. From the rooftop terraces the view extends across the city to the Atlas Mountains. Perhaps it’s time to sun like a cat by the pool. Life is just too difficult isn’t it?
