An open plan 250 sq m apartment in Barcelona. Overhead lighting defines the spaces with a central, cave like core for bathing. Each space is a vessel with its own identity from sleeping through to bathing, the library, the kitchen and the living area. The rough shell of concrete and brick from the original building envelops the new slick finishes, traditional bones cradling contemporary inserts. The Vessels Apartment by TC-Interiors.

I almost convinced myself. “It’s real. It’s so fabulous it has to be real.” You see we don’t feature 3D rendering on the blog. No the rooms in our posts are real. They’re built. Bricks and mortar. “This has to be real,” I argued to myself. “I really love it.” Imagine living in a grunge/industrial/masculine/raw but rich interior. Yes imagine is what we have to do. Industrial spaces make me happy. They have history, texture, patina, are filled with intriguing and eclectic vintage finds, and to me exude a lived in, comfortable and very casual feel (if done ‘properly’ otherwise can be too cold). Photos again from the portfolio of Patrik Hagborg.

It really could not be more obvious that a guy’s guy lives here. I may be stereotyping but I’d wager a cat. It has everything a masculine pad could ever dream of – brick walls everywhere, steel beams, loftiness, reclaimed wood, a decent media centre, a just-big-enough kitchen to eat take out in….and it’s even got pets made out of conduit! Rainy day, a lull between customers, the shop is momentarily empty, quick online real estate stalking, oops hop off the computer, say hello to new customer as they walk in. That will teach me. (Hi Megan nice to meet you today!) Found this warehouse in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Just about my favourite suburb in my favourite Australian city. Even better this conversion is actually two homes. You bet I’m taking the ground floor one with the courtyard, the trusses and the cool brick. But you can come visit and stay in the other one. I better stop stalking and get back to work.
