I got a call this morning from my folks (and grandmother who’s here visiting) to tell me that they were 10 minutes from my house and heading out antiquing and asked if I wanted to tag along. UH……YEAH! To top it off, they were going to the same place where I scored most of my finds the last time. And OH MY, did I score again. It’s kind of dark and cloudy outside so I’ll take the evening to clean things up and post more photos tomorrow of everything in their new homes. Here’s a preview.
Thought I would save the best for last…
But sadly, this is what it looked like 5 minutes after I got it in the door…
Yesterday, I spent the day antiquing with my parents. They picked me up at 8 am and dropped me off at 5:30 pm. It was a LONG day, but a very successful one. I am still pretty surprised at the amount of great stuff I found, because believe me, this city is not known for it’s great antique stores nor it’s flea markets. You either find alot of total CRAP or very country-style things. Retro is generally not easy to come by. But we had a blast and because I have no posts done yet for the week and no clue what to post today, I figured I’d show my scores from yesterday. By the way, all of this cost me $204.
I have placed most of the items above where they will go for now (I’m ALWAYS moving things around) and I took some photos of them in their new homes. Check Flickr if you’d like to know what each of these cost and other details I may have added.
I am pretty excited to finally have this project finished. My bathroom is the last of the 2.5 bathrooms in this house to be redone. It still needs new flooring but so do the other bathrooms so that’s a project for another time. We’re not planning on keeping this house for very long so we can’t do too much to the house without thinking of resale but I had to go a little nuts somewhere – and it might as well be my bathroom. This cost about $650 – that’s for the sink, faucet, knobs, light fixture, paint, accessories, art, molding around art, mirror, shower curtain…etc. I’m curious to hear your comments.
I’m posting this to let my “inlaws” (must use quotes because Jeff and I aren’t married) know how much I appreciate all their help over the past 2 weeks. They drove 14 (or so) hours from Prince Edward Island and have worked SOOOOOO hard to help Jeff and I with some renovations of our house. Flora did all the cooking (can’t tell you how happy that made me) and helped me renovate 2 of the bathrooms and Jim did tons of work in the basement (we’ve been dying for a finished basement) and a bunch of plumbing and electrical in the bathrooms. They’ll be leaving Wednesday and Jeff and I will be sad to see them go. (We don’t get to see them very often). So I thought I’d post some pics to show everyone all the hard work they’ve been doing and to say thanks to the best “inlaws” a girl could ask for.
And here’s my pet project – coming up with inexpensive artwork for the powder room. Thanks Jo for the great idea of printing 1’s and 2’s (in case you forget what you’re doing in the powder room, it’s like a reminder 😉 )
