A tiny house big on style, mighty where it counts. A small footprint, big use of re-use. Reclaiming, recycling, reinventing but definitely not rehashing. Here is another project by architectural designer Elizabeth Roberts. My favourite element is the little reading nook. Cute!! The Fort Greene Townhouse is located in the Historic District of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The renovation created 2 separate duplex apartments for the 2 families who purchased the building together. A family member designed the lower level duplex. Elizabeth Roberts Design designed the upper level duplex creating 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 private offices, a kitchen patio overlooking the garden and a new roofdeck accessed through a new stair to the roof.

Sometimes one can just have too much boulle and ormolu. Sometimes there is such a thing as too much fun. Today’s second house is a more subtle take on luxury. Starting with an equally impressive historic building the owners in this case have chosen an understated elegance. Greys and whites play against dark floors and modern, clean lined furniture and an open plan design play against the period features. Favourite here? The office. I would gladly home invade, er sorry, move in just for that office and of course the location. Gore St, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Sigh. Link here while it lasts.

Tirry Cindy and Tom Callebaut are the designers behind tcct, and interior architecture/design firm from Belgium. They are very in tune to their surroundings and how to create maximum impact with minimal spaces. Their spaces speak volumes without being too aggressive…except maybe that top photo. 🙂 Have a peek in their portfolio – they have even designed a chapel that is unlike any chapel I’ve ever seen.

Melbourne based architectural firm BKK Architects was founded in 2000 by Tim Black, Julian Kosloff and Simon Knott. These guys have got it going on. They have won a ton of awards, been featured in a zillion publications, and have captured my attention with their creativity and picturesque designs. I am in awe of the exteriors of the homes they have created. The imagination, attention to detail and understanding of the landscape is so inspiring.
