Simple

Jason Gibney created this beautifully crafted apartment in Bronte for his family. Minimalist. Streamlined. Honest in its materials. Clever in its use of space. Look closely and you will realize that he has extended into the roof space of his typical “six pack” apartment block. As for the kitchen hidden behind the wall… brilliant! Jason is Managing Associate Director at Sydney architectural firm Tobias Partners. All I wish for (besides the ability to live so simply) is for larger photos! Via the Houses Awards.

Bijou brilliant

Posted on Fri, 16 Sep 2011 by midcenturyjo

First admired on Remodelista (still my number one go to blog) this elegant space saving loft bed solution by Jordan Parnass Digital Architecture is only surpassed by the actual project.  The loft bed image led me to this bijou studio/workspace that is not only beautiful in its simplicity but inspiring in its spatial solutions to small scale living. Brilliant. (Those ingenious stairs remind me a little of these.)

Carola Vannini

Modern interiors placed delicately in historic shells. Colour saturated minimalism and a dialogue between the past and the present. It’s a beautiful balancing act. Welcome to the portfolio of Rome based architect Carola Vannini. It is all about space and colour, positive and negative, blocks and voids, old and new… and respect.

kitHAUS

I have a thing for modular housing. Pavilions, kits, pods. Love ’em. Small spaces that alone or in combination allow you to configure your dream layout in confined spaces or the big wide yonder. Small footprints. Small impact. Small spaces just right for big ideas. This cutie is from kitHAUS and if you click over to their site you can enter their competition to hatch your next big idea staying in this kitHAUS at Arroyo Grande, CA. Look at that view!

Australian firm Tzannes Associates has delved into architectural, urban design and interior design services since 1983. They are award-winning and renowned for elegant and understated architecture. Their process focuses on the relationship between a building, its context and function. It would be an honour to set foot in one of the homes they have designed….and you would have to drag me out kicking and screaming.
