From sophisticated soiree to lavish luncheon, majestic wedding to intimate celebration South African events designer Otto de Jager and his team at Otto de Jager Events create magic, transforming empty spaces into temporary wonderlands but it’s deJager’s more permanent creations that have caught my eye. I’ve chosen just two of his interior designs (the second is his own home) to share. Both rich with natural finds, aged timbers and a sense of theatre. After all he is in the business of staging extravagant events.
“Located in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, this interior and landscape project to a 1930s weatherboard and rock house offers a careful manipulation of dark and light to suit the particular needs of a writer with a predilection for darkness and exploit the site’s broad established garden outlook.”
Melbourne-based architecture and interior design practice Freadman White have taken a confused warren of rooms and created a home that moves seamlessly from cave like living room to light and bright open plan kitchen dining. Bedrooms with their ensuite bathrooms continue to play with the idea of light versus dark. The result is a modern remake of a dated farmhouse.
When simplicity is key. I think having a minimalist summer cottage would be an amazing thing. This beauty is by Norm Architects. Scandic-Bohemian feels and barefoot luxury is found in this renovated and modernized coastal home in a quiet and secluded corner of Denmark, where Japanese zen aesthetics and danish cottage style charm come together, boasting subtle, nordic luxury and eclectic design elements.
I spotted this fabulous and spacious apartment for sale in Stockholm via Lagerlings and had to share. The detail in the hardwood floors is TO DIE FOR, the moldings, the elegant bathrooms, the neutral colour scheme also have captured my heart. And for reasons I can’t quite figure out, I am obsessed with the curtains in the main living spaces.
I’m almost at a loss for words. This home in Wentworth-Nord, Québec designed by Montréal architect Alain Carle is so incredibly beautiful from the outside in. Most of the wood and stone throughout the house are reclaimed and are what really make this home special. Alongside the concrete floors, plaster walls and crittall windows, it is a winning combination. Bonus points for the dark stained wood adding in some moody drama. This is everything I love.
