Falken Reynolds

Posted on Thu, 25 Oct 2012 by KiM

Chad Falkenberg and Kelly Reynolds make up Vancouver interior design firm Falken Reynolds. Here’s another Canadian firm I wish I had of heard about sooner. Their work is so diverse – they clearly adapt to the style of their clients and they execute it all with perfection. From palatial homes to tiny condo retreats, they’ve dabbled in all kinds of spaces. I’ve got a particular project of theirs to share with you later today, but for now, here are some bits and pieces from their portfolio. P.S. LOVE those chairs above!

Whether high in the sky in a lavish apartment or down on the ground in the rich surrounds of a modern family home Melbourne based interior designer Christopher Elliott creates a clean lined, contemporary look big on livability and luxury. A fresh masculine style. Monotones are punctuated with accent colours that lift and liven the space while layers of texture add further interest. Beautiful spaces. Liveable spaces. Inspiring modern living.

Lee Ledbetter

Lee Ledbetter of Louisiana is a phenomenal architect that I’ve been a fan of since my post back in ’07. He has designed many more magnificent homes in the last few years, including what is clearly the home of an art collector. Really classy spaces perfectly designed to show off fabulous art and furnishings.

Sydney Harbour apartment

Posted on Wed, 10 Oct 2012 by midcenturyjo

A sophisticated apartment in Sydney. An apartment with a view to die for. But what do you do when the view is so iconic, so overwhelming and just so “there”? Don’t fight it, don’t compete with it, don’t ignore it. Celebrate it. A retrained palette, luxurious but understated finishes. White walls that bounce the bright Australian light deep into the apartment and extend the sense of space. Dark floors ground, provide a solid base for this aerie perched as it is above the Sydney harbour between bridge and opera house. Causal elegant, the finer things but no posturing, no pretense. Definitely a trophy apartment but also very much a home. Interior design by Sarah Davidson.

Old and new

As I’ve stated on this blog at least a dozen times, I love a space that is a combination of old and new. Modern blending with traditional. Opposing genres is unexpected and this tension really does it for me. The apartment below is a dream. Old world architecture that is to die for, mixed with rustic, classic and modern furnishings. The resulting juxtaposition is stunning. And OMG take a close look at the detail in the bedroom ceiling. (Via Le case di Elixìr)
