SL:ID STUDIO is the California design firm of Samantha Lyman. She begins with a foundation of classical principles and integrates modern elements to create a fresh aesthetic. Although relaxed modernism is the signature of SL:ID STUDIO, Samantha is fluent in several styles and periods. Surfaces and finishes are both tactile and beautiful. The warmth of a timeless antique may soften a spare, modern space. Layered lighting anticipates the arrival of a treasured painting and comfortable furnishings. Finally, an element of humor and the unexpected lends levity to a tastefully arranged space. I love the classy but liveable spaces and the warm, neutral colour palette that seems to have so much depth.

ScavulloDesign created the interiors of this weekender just steps away from the water in Stinson beach, California. Large doors and windows bring the outside in while the sandy colour palette and blue accents of course give the coastal vibe but the interiors are in no way cliched. Casually elegant and family friendly, durable and darling from wicker to waterproof fabrics. Finally, accents throughout reflect the relaxed feel and include the family’s collection of sea shells that they have found on the beach outside. What a lovely spot to get away to.

I close my eyes and sweet dreams will come. Dreams of a home just right. Natural materials, a treasure trove of textures. Nothing too precious but everything beautiful. Tactile and heart touching. Dublin based interior designer Gail Morris of Wall Morris Design emailed us with a few photos of the installation of a recently completed ‘new-build’ residential project in Co. Kerry, Ireland for a client who lives in New York. The design focus was on fine interior joinery, tailored and detailed for the family’s needs. I know many of you will be swooning over the custom kitchen but I love the bedrooms tucked up under the roof. A new house just beginning its life with its new family. I can’t wait to see it age beautifully as it gathers the layers of family life.

We’ve featured Jake Curtis‘ photography before but I stumbled across his site again today and was struck by just how pretty these shots are. Lovely faded, slightly shabby, other worldly and dusty girly. Perfect for a drag your feet sort of Monday.
