The serenity that is Betsy Brown

“A well suited home is a portrait of those who live within. The palette colored by life’s experiences, a graceful segue from solitude to public life. It is a place where one feels effortless alone or in the company of friends. Such a home is our aim. Its creation begins with inquiry into the patterns of daily living, understanding what is nurturing, stimulating, calming—what feels like home. It requires inspection of cherished objects, and introspection into cherished experiences.”

I love the houses that Betsy Brown and her team cast their spell over. Serene and sophisticated.

Curvaceous

Toronto based designer Shauna Walton did a number on this modern home with lots of golden wood, neutral colour palette and tons of curves, as seen in furniture (that dining set is to die for), doorways, the simplest yet sexiest stove hood cover, bathroom vanities and so much more. The result is a stunning and warm family home. Photos: Lauren Miller.

A kitchen with lots of white and wood

What a wonderful kitchen this is!!! So bright with all the white, then add in that whole back section clad in wood and it takes this space to a whole other level of awesome. The warmth the wood adds really makes it feel cozy and lived in. The perfect family kitchen. Designed by April Tomlin Interiors. Photos: Paige Rumore.

Casa Soleto offers a truly authentic experience of the village life in the heart of Salento, Puglia. The noble palazzotto has been lovingly restored by Studio Andrew Trotter and Marcelo Martínez. They took time with the renovation to carefully preserve the historic features of the house, while bringing it into the twenty-first century. Having kept most of the original floors, the nonna’s kitchen or the internal doors (two of them being 300 years old), Casa Soleto has all the charm and character you would expect of a house from the seventeenth century. This is a truly authentic experience. A haven to relax during your trip. A barefoot luxury.
This minimal vacation home is an absolute minimalistic dream. And a study in wonder of lime plaster. Those arches and the architectural detail in the dining room are sooooooo pretty.

Contrasts with neutrals

Clean, classic, neutral, textured and contrasting. This is such an easy-going, timeless and sellable style that is so fabulous in this Los Angeles home designed by Katie Hodges. I am particularly fond of the ‘California-meets-English-Swedish’ kitchen. Definitively not something trendy that would need re-renovating anytime soon. Photos: Haris Kenjar.
