A Tribeca loft

Posted on Mon, 20 Sep 2021 by KiM

I keep thinking I am over the idea of loft living but then I come across a loft that is sooooo well done like this one designed by Damon Liss and my love for these spaces is rekindled. Especially when it includes exposed brick and a sweet outdoor space. (Photos: Joshua McHugh)

Perfectly imperfect outdoors

Posted on Fri, 17 Sep 2021 by midcenturyjo

More from Perspective this time a wonderful series of outdoor spaces surrounding a country house in Rute in the north of Sweden’s Gotland. Once again Scandinavian design meets elements of Eastern philosophy, wabi-sabi, the perfectly imperfect. I love it all, the pool, the al fresco dining, fireplaces and old greenhouse but most of all the conservatory. I never realised I needed a conservatory … until now.

Modern in Madrid

Posted on Wed, 15 Sep 2021 by midcenturyjo

The bones may be old but the look is modern. This reworking of a Madrid apartment (with impressive roof terrace reached by the sculptural sweep of a spiral staircase) by interior architect Inés Benavides preserves all the best features of old apartment while ringing in the new. Walls are removed, a modern kitchen is open plan to the living and dining while bright colour and pattern packs a punch.

Colour and pattern in the Napa Valley

Posted on Mon, 13 Sep 2021 by midcenturyjo

If the last house was all about restrained colour palettes and minimalist vibes allowing the old house to shine this one is all about colour and pattern in a new build. Think more, more, more and perhaps just a little bit more. Even with so much going on the house is not visually cluttered. In fact its clean contemporary lines are the perfect foil to the extravagance. What a fun house to grow up in! St Helena, Napa Valley by ETC.etera.

Modern Mediterranean in California

Posted on Fri, 10 Sep 2021 by KiM

This home in Del Mar, California takes Mediterranean vibes and adds a dose of modernity to it. Lots of wood, textures, and a very pale, neutral palette make this really peaceful, inviting and warm. Designed by Intimate Living Interiors. Photos: Karyn Millett.
