I’m taking a little journey back to historic Como House in South Yarra. No not a physical journey, more like a jump back a couple of years to Como By Design, a show house featuring 23 of Melbourne’s eminent interior designers under the helm of Tigger Hall. The magnificent house is owned by the National trust so the designers were not able to alter the fabric of the rooms and had to return them to the original state once the event was over including the original wall colour! The house was completely transformed – 2 days to set up & 1 day to pack down. I’ve embedded links to each designer in the pictures. Time to go for a little journey yourself.

The brief was to reinvent this narrow terrace house into a modern inside outside home. The open plan living area flows seamlessly into the stylish courtyard while the modern kitchen has a birdseye view of all the proceedings. Living large in a stylish small space. What an absolutely beautiful and relaxing weekend home in the country. I could absolutely move right in. Kevin Dumais and his husband, Charlie, bought and refurbished a three-bedroom clapboard house in rural Connecticut. Major cosmetic renovations included a completely remodeled kitchen and installation of ebony-stained oak floor throughout. The owners made this weekend house their own with mid-century furnishings, fresh white walls, and a range of inviting textures—turning a humble 1940s Cape into a fine example of updated country chic in the process.

Rustic meets modern meets a simple beauty in this Barcelona house by Cobalto Studio. Restrained almost severe but tempered with a tactile element. Texture combines with pops of earthy colour to bring warmth to an otherwise austere spaces. Anyone else crushing on those vintage rush seated dining chairs?

A calming and relaxed garden in an urban setting. A small green oasis in the hustle and bustle. Cedar bench, large pavers, a mid green colour palette with interest coming from texture and leaf shape. Lush, private, inviting. I think I’d like to lean back on that bench, cold beer in hand and soak up some autumn sun. Social isolating in the perfect spot. Balmain courtyard by Think Outside Gardens.
