Monday’s pets on furniture – part 1

Posted on Mon, 21 Nov 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

My shiba Suzaku puts the “love” in “loveseat.”
– JennyB (Washington, DC)

This is Molly our soft coated Wheaton terrier enjoying the couch in our family room over looking the garden. Her favourite spot in the house.
– Git (Toronto)

The photos attached are from a home office makeover my husband Brandon and I are currently working on, of course through the supervision of our cats.
Jill

My late dog, Margret (a shepherd/terrier mix) on her daybed. She always had the best taste in fabric.
– Sue (Los Angeles)

Here is a picture of my daughter’s first fish named Jack. He is swimming around above Kelly Wearstler in front of a chic vintage mirror that can be found on my Etsy shop.
– Melanie (Denver)

Our little british blue, Hudson.
– Lauren (Australia)

Sunny Rae on a my sister-in-law’s thrifted chair. Don’t tell her I let the dog on it! lol.
Brittney

My new estate store find that I recovered in great fabric gifted to me by my best friend and of course Tinkers my 3 year old kitty’s new favorite place to nap.
– Jen (Lynchburg, VA)

This photo is of Maurice and Brittney the Boston Terriers from New York City in their Lazyboy chair.
Eric

My cat, Mr.Paw, just loves to take his afternoon nap on this tray. 🙂 You can see the actual furniture below the server, which is dark brown willow trunk. We keep our sheets and pillows there and consequently get a little more space to our closets.
Kaisa (Helsinki, Finland)

The first photo is of a dog we met at an Inn my daughter, father and i stayed at in Treknow England, she was very well behaved and friendly, she just loved to sit in the window and see what was happening outside. The second photo is of my husbands ‘interesting’ rescue cat Spike, it’s hard to get photos of him because his definition of furniture is usually one of us, we are here simply to feed him and keep him warm I am sure, he does however find time to take over the hutch above my desk and put me on edge as he brush past the ornaments sitting on top, I often joke he does it on purpose.

*** A huge thanks to all of you who answered my request for more pet entries for today. If some of you are wondering why your photos aren’t included, I received so many I had to save some for next week.

My new handmade walnut bed from a wonderful Etsy artisan, against a chocolate wall (my first foray into bold color) and Minnie – my 19 year old geriatric kitty – in her Queen of the Hill mode. The old and the new, merging beautifully.
– Diane (San Diego)

Ana

Riley on the purple chair that he is usually not allowed to be on
– Katie (San Francisco, CA)

Here is our giant Siberian cat Lucas on his favorite chair, where you can find him most of the time. He loves to relax.

This is Billy the Kit.

Long time ago I send you a picture of my cat Rodolfo acting as a gargoyle…. Now here you have few pictures of his brothers, Catalino, the siamese, and Nicolas, the white deaf baby we found 8 months ago. Frequently they appear in my blog using all the furniture of our house, of course.
– Tami

Here are my “borrow-cats”. The tired one is Tess and the other is her mother Sotis. They live with me for some weeks now and then.
– Barbro (Sweden)

These are my two beagles Sadie and Daisy sitting in the kitchen on an antique Crewel work chair.

There should be a keyboard instead of that creature. But it’s his very favorite place, so…

This is Pixel the Weimaraner trying out our brand new bed! We have just completed renovating our 1920s townhouse and are slowly filling it in with furniture. The bed is our own design made to order for us, and we love it! It is great for leaning on to relax and reading a book in the evening.
– Marta & António (Porto, Portugal)

Noah, our 6 year old weimaraner, lounging on a sunday afternoon.
James

This is our three years old pug Lino, on my mom’s red couch.
– Tamara

This is the feline love of my life, Minnie. She passed away in August and all the pictures I have of her seem to be closeups, these are the most zoomed out I have. I made her a bed out of a cola crate to keep her from sleeping on my hands and keyboard while I worked. First picture is the trial run where she was slightly suspicious, second picture she was madly in love with it.
– Julia (St.Paul Minnesota)

Joey on Crate & Barrel sofa, Riley on Z-Gallerie faux-leopard chair and Jack, Joey and Riley in a rare photo together on our Karastan tea-stained persian rug.
– Sue (Naperville, IL)

This is old Jessie lying on a new Anthropologie rug wishing she could be on the old Ikat cushions instead.
– Mandy

Lulu, our feisty little chihuahua, lounging on her favorite spot at home.
– Mary

This is our 4-year-old cat Cosmo we adopted from a shelter who loves to lay on all furniture.
– Sharon (NYC)

I wanted to submit our Cavalier “FJ”, sitting in the sun when he’s not on our laps, on a much loved chair given to us.

This is my Miniature Poodle (Mr.) Darcy soaking up the morning sun. He was looking towards the window and likely thinking of heading for the large armchair that he uses as his viewing spot.
– Jenn (Toronto)

I’m attaching a photo of a daybed that my husband made, using reclaimed wood.  We just upgraded to a flat screen (better late than never) and I wanted a daybed to place underneath the tv, so the wall can be used, not just watched! It is covered in our old organic unbleached cotton duvet cover.  Ikea lamp behind and 3 of our photos.  Chair under the photos is early 1900’s french.  Oh, and the cat is Smokey.
– Sylvie (Bellingham, Washington, originally from BC)

This is Mango our 8 month old Golden Doodle. Her favorite spot is your favorite spot!
– Monica (Brea, CA)

Within minutes of its delivery, Django had claimed ownership of our beautiful new Suffolk settee.
– Sharon (Bloomington, IN)

i normally don’t take many photos of my own dogs…but diego was just too cute as a puppy & we had a break on this particular shoot…so i put him up on the stool & snapped a few pics…the last one is of diego now
Robyn

I would like to send you some images of my dog in my house. He is a lhasa-apso and his name is Zulu. I’m an plastic artist and I love colours and dogs.
Isabel (Londrina/Pr/Brazil)

This is our cat, Mojo. She’s tiny — she weighs about 6 pounds. We call her “the koala” because of the way she grips things while she’s sleeping. I bought this butterscotch colored loveseat for $100 on eBay from a shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana a couple years ago. It’s a great piece of living room furniture and so easy to clean when you have pets! (We have another cat and a dog.)
– Katherine

A freak October snowstorm kept Cooper and Addie close to the fire on their favorite perch, a Barcelona ottoman.
– Cathy & Bruce

All of our animals are rescues- Bailey is the larger brown/white beagle/pointer mix. She recently lost her front right leg to a tumor and is doing wonderfully! The little white furball is Tank- I adopted him in April of this year! He is a pekingese, his mother was rescued from a puppy mill when she was pregnant. The one of him on the red towel all fluffed up was the first night home with us! I like the other one of him even more- his underbite is poking out and he looks like a very pensive man. Lastly the furry kitty is Gizmo- I couldn’t find many non-grainy pictures of her because she is always moving! I love that picture because she’s all snuggled up in the corner.
– Julia

I get this email from my wife with the subject line…. Monster created.  I figured it was one of our dogs, Molly or Ace doing something.  Turns out that after 6 years, Ace thinks he has free reign over all the furniture in the house.  In this case, it’s our bed.  Indeed, a monster has been created!!!
– Glenn (Rockville, MD)

Chloe the cat, “Yoga cat”, on our old sofa and having a merry Christmas on our piano.
– Anne (Rochester, NY)

This is my mums cornish rex, India, she’s got a fabulous elegance about her, even while watching the other animals outside (she’s not allowed out because she’s got light skin and white fur sue she’d get sun burn) she sits on a chair. The second photo of her is on the food bin, with her “please feed me” face.

My not so little Frenchie lives to lounge on a window sill which serves as my headboard. Amongst my mostly handcrafted treasures, He’s the best accessory.

This is 5-month-old Bodi trying on a costume (for our blog) for the very first time.  On a (bad) design note, really need to close in the sides of the bookcases flanking the bay window!
