Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 12 Jul 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

Lots more after the jump!

Here is my Kranksy (part dachshund). He loves to be with me every part of the day and follows me around from room to room.
1 –  he is sitting in my study
2 – on my lounge.
both pics show him staring out the windows, hoping he’ll get a walk.

I know I have submitted pictures before of my Millie and Ozzy, but thought I’d send you another couple. These may be the last of our “pets on furniture” submissions as we have implemented a “no furniture” rule so we can get new sofas in the near future. However, these boxers do love to snooze on the sofa, so it’s been a challenge. The first picture is of Millie. She’s always sleeping with one eye open. The second picture is of Ozzy and he just loves to rest his head on something…anything, a pillow, the arm of the sofa, a shoe, etc. The third photo is one I caught of the two of them sitting on my Poang chair. They usually don’t get on it because it bounces so this is a rare shot.

I love your Pets on Furniture features you do on Mondays and wanted to share the attached photo of my cat Mercedes enjoying the sun on our Sacco bean bag chair.
– Corrie

Meet Oliver (10 Year old White Poodle) and Eiffel (10 Month old phantom poodle)
– Margaret

This is Freddy, obviously having a difficult time relaxing on our leather couch.  You can see a glimpse of Ginger on the overturned back cushion on the left.  They are two of the reasons we have a leather couch.

I hope you’ll enjoy this photo of my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Harvey, perched on a Louis XIV style armchair. It is upholstered with fabric featuring butterflies, dragonflies and text from Shakespeare. It was a wedding present from my mum and it is my favourite piece of furniture.
– Nancy

This is our cat Solo. She has hit the “teens” and are out running all night, but here we managed to capture her lounging on a nice chair bought at a second hand shop in sweeden. The photos are from our forest cabin.
Mari (Oslo, Norway)

I thought I’d contribute my picture of my dog Biscuits Jackson sitting on my favorite chair purchased for just $15(!) from the Seattle Goodwill- otherwise known as “Goodwillies”- which I miss dearly now that Biscuits and I live in South Africa. The picture was taken by the famous dog photographer Erin Vey http://www.erinvey.com/.
– Jabu

My name’s Corinne, and this is my wiener dog Nigel Brutus. We are in Chicago and have lots of love for great furniture and design!
– Corinne

My cat Mollie on one of our porch chairs from World Market. She wandered into our lives one afternoon and has been loved on ever since.
– Elaine

1 – At my bff’s house in LA and just snapped this of her dog Lu.
2 – Ps. This is my new rescue, Stan’s, maiden voyage to his cousins house in LA. Although he is still a thin, thin guy – he has gained 4 pounds since I rescued him in March. Hank now adores him. Go Stan!!
3 – Hang’n with the LA cousins‏. Pam’s son Henry keeps sending these pics while we are out and about.

– Leah

This is Winston, my (almost) 1 year old bunny. He is a very curious bun who loves running around our apartment, it was hard to get him to sit still long enough to take a photo!
– Lexie

This is a photo of my daughter’s cat Bille when the two were visiting us.
Indira (Summit, NJ)

Here is a picture of my siamese cat, Samba, he loves to nap on top of my folders and papers, while i work on the dining table.
– Babes (Manila, Philippines)

Here is my Cocker Spaniel, Beamer. This picture basically conveys his personality perfectly. He thinks he’s a person, he’s spoiled to death and does just about whatever he wishes; including taking up the maximum amount of bed space that he can.

My border collies, Rex and Lou, hanging out on my Montauk overstuffed chair.  Truly a dog’s life!
– Kristi

I took this photo when I caught our cats, Chicken and Skroggins, sleeping on the same sofa together. I couldn’t resist the temptation to surround them with heart Post-It notes, as this was a rare moment between these two little frienemies.
Amanda (Toronto)

This is Henry, my co-workers Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  He comes to the office to hang out and is perfectly content sitting on our Generation by Knoll chairs!  Sometimes he falls asleep and snores!
– Angela

This is Yoko, my three year- old Maine Coon Cat on our well-used and loved Blu Dot sofa.
Kate (Brooklyn, NY)

Norton the wonder dog!
– Lee

Here’s a photo of our mixed siamese cat Oscar. He’s seen here sleeping on our bed. Above him is a painting by local (we are from Singapore) artist Paul Koh. The word painted is ‘猫’, Chinese for cat. More of Paul’s paintings are found in http://www.catmasutra.com/index.html. As quoted, the trademark ‘eyes-wide-shut’ and ‘ear-to-ear grin’ of the Catmasutra cats embody this deep-seated childhood innocence cum devil-may-care bravado.
– Kwang

MacFarlane Hugo is my ten-year old mut. He’s not allowed on the furniture, but he loves this living room couch that was reupholstered from its original mohair from my Great-great grandmother’s home. This picture perfectly captures his ‘I’m innocent’ look.
– Lauren

This photo is of Molly (age 13), sitting on her favorite piece of furniture in my sunroom.”

My cat ‘Grey’ decided to help out in a recent photo shoot in my studio at home. I was shooting the photo to capture my art in a house setting but kitty decided he wanted to be the centerpiece and ended up stealing the show!
Erin

Love the blog and just had to send in this pic of our cat “Skipperdoodle” on our bed. We got her after a cruel person threw her from a moving vehicle and our friends, who nearly ran over the injured and frightened kitten, brought her to our shop. She is now spoiled rotten and loving it.
Caitlin (click her name for Skipperdoodle’s full story)

I’ve attached a pic of my two cats – Smokey and The Bandit lounging in my new $10 garage sale find – a Hauser wicker chair which is in our ensuite bathroom.  Obviously the chair now belongs to them!
– Debbie

Attached is a photograph of Beans and Junie, our two chihuahuas.  This was taken in my Aunt’s and Uncle’s living room at their beach house.  As you can see, they had a very tiring day at the beach!
– Lisa, Chad, Syd, Keegan, Beans and Junie Jorgensen

This is Mayo, our 8 year old mixed breed pup.
– Rhiannon (San Francisco)

Bella enjoys how the chair cradles her during nap time….i’m sure of it. 😉
– Charlotte

This is our cat Linus snoozing on the couch after a long morning of playing with the dog!
– Lauren & Colin

This is our 4 year old Boston Terrier Brady!  He’s a total ham and always sits in the cutest positions like he’s just ‘hanging out like the rest of us!’
– Melissa & Jason Bilodeau (Manchester, NH)

My dog Smooch has already staked out his place on the brand-new furniture (I haven’t even removed the tag yet!). He likes to be able to see out the front window so he can warn us of possible intruders.

This is Mavi, my 8 month old kitten. He is really cuddly and loves sleeping on furry stuff!
-Eda

This is Morgan. I didn’t even pose him. Seriously. He was just sitting there.
Maggie&John

Here is a picture of my cat, Mary, watching tv in our living room. I think it was Law & Order (she used to like it, but lately she has stopped watching it). The art on the wall, listed in order clockwise from the top left includes: two cyanotype photographs by my husband Marek Warunkiewicz, “Float” by Charles Pachter, a small photo by Bill Schwab (sitting on the furniture), a photo taken around 1910 of my great grandfather who was a surveyor in Western Canada, and one of the famous Toronto streetcar prints by Charles Pachter. The vase was made by my husband.
– Jenny (Toronto)

This is my golden retriever, Murphy, relaxing on one of the many chairs and couches that came with the house we kindly purchased for him to enjoy. The clock I found at a thrift store.”
Kira

This is my three year old Pekingese Manny showing off his summer haircut. You can find him pretty much anywhere in the house when he wants to lounge, but he really seems to like the sofas where he can keep an eye on everyone 🙂

Meu nome é Alessandra Ayub. Sou do Brasil. Moro na Granja Viana,em São Paulo.Esse é o Nescau, o gatinho da família.Ele adora dormir no sol da manhã que bate na bay window, na sala de almoço. Espero muito que voces gostem. Obrigada.
– Alessandra (Brasil)

This is a pic of our adorable fur baby; Cooper. He grown fond of our blue wingback. I wonder if he’ll still like it when I reupholster with a houndstooth print…
Erin

Had to share my boy Buddy, this was taken during a photo shoot for the paint company I work for – he’s a perfect match to PPG’s 319-6 Bronco Brown 2 years later and I still can’t keep him off the sofa!!  The other is my beloved Grace who has taken over the L/R sofa.  Both are former fosters and very much adored.
– Ruthanne

Snoopy is nothing like his namesake cartoon character; Snoopy is a baa-aad dog. He eats chocolate, then has to have his stomach pumped. He eats prescription meds, then has to have his stomach pumped…. He does things, baaa-aad things. How he managed to climb onto my sister-in-law’s table without knocking over the very large and very expensive camera lens, or anything else, no one knows (see that tall black thing in front of him? yeah, that’s the lens). Snoopy. Wa-waaaa.
– Priscilla

This is our cat Kitsch on the steel chair in our living room, by a German designer named Roger Knöhr.  Kitsch is trying to upstage the chair, sitting pretty and making eye contact with the lens, like the movie star she thinks she is.  This time the chair wins. How could it not?
– Brooks

Hi my name is Lauren and this is my dog Luke – he is a wheaten terrier. This is him on a chair in our family room – the chair has officially been renamed “Luke’s chair”. He also enjoys the coordinating ottoman, which he also thinks he owns!
– Lauren (California)
