Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 12 Apr 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

This is my dog Roxie and her friend Canopener posing for photos for my dog product line, Roxiedoggie. They look super regal in these chairs.
– Maya

Arthur is the little guy in the house. He likes to sit and watch my husband and I run around between the kitchen and living room. He’s such a sweetheart 🙂 Can’t imagine our place without him. Wish he’d stay still for more photos!
Ashley

This is my cat Pixie perched on top of the coffee table – a consignment store find that I painted my favorite color of green.
– Heylee

My pug, Raoul, enjoying the cafe at the design store Merci in Paris.
– Donna

This is our Newfoundland puppy Douglas at 8 weeks old, 18 lbs on the day we brought him home. He ran around like a wild man for about half an hour and promptly zonked out under this chair for the rest of the day. Now Douglas is 1 year old, bigger than this chair and still sleeps on his back.
– Lauren H.

The photo I sent last week was of Oliver napping in an apartment in Prague. We travel together, you see. I have a couple of photos from our travels and thought I’d share with you. This one is from an Bed and Bath outside of Rhonda in Spain. Oliver likes to nap. The great “sofa” actually folds down to a bed. Love the color, though I’d never be brave enough to do in my own home.
– Kym

Here they are my two babies the black one is satori he always cares about his brother hobbes, but hobbes is the most curious, he wants to be in every photo.
– Laura

Here are more pictures of my favorite person, Hudson 🙂  He LOVES sitting by the flowers..must be the smell.
– Jess

Usually Homer likes to play “King of the mountain,” but sometimes he will share this prime location.

Rubey and Eloise enjoy the sun in their New York apartment.

These are my doggies, Peanut and Don Julio…helping model my latest piece of “re-loved” furniture! They are so patient with their crazy momma!
– Jasmine

Raymond & Stretch again, waiting for the clock to turn, the night before their human’s big birthday bash last Thursday – Happy Birthday, Loni!
– Julia

Arne Jacobsen was a genius…. But we also like to sit on the floor cushions. – Love Daisy and Jasmine (Maltese)
– Melody

this is minga. this is why sometimes i have a hard time getting work done…
– Lauren Z.

It occurred to me, that I’m not sure if you’ve shown many/any pets on outdoor furniture. Since the weather here has been so great, I thought I’d share Pepper & Pickle checking out our new Polywood Adirondack chairs. I think they appreciate having furniture to lounge on when they’re outside enjoying the fresh air and sun as much as when they’re inside! 🙂
Tess

“Please find a photograph of a Danish National (Greta York inspired) chair, upholstered in Signature Prints Florence Broadhurst fabric. And lets not forget … gorgeous Thomas (moodle – Maltese poodle) relaxed on a Sunday afternoon.
– Laura W.

Cozy is a Shihpoo (half Shih tzu half Toy Poodle) and loves to sit on the wingback recliner and watch us in the sun on the deck.
– Hannah

Don’t know if you would call this a furniture – you decide – but one thing’s for sure, it’s cute 😉 We got this great little red boy last summer. He didn’t live with us very long before he ruled the house, and our poor old female cat, has to tiptoe around if she won’t play his wild games. Here he is caught in my laundry basket, just a few months old. By the way: My five year old son has named him Raphaello, after the red Ninja Turtle.
– Annette (Denmark)

Molly is our 5 year old Labradoodle who runs the house. Last night she decided that she’d perch herself in her Dad’s chair next to the fire. She is such a smart, beautiful girl.”

My dog Oliver, taking a nap.

I was playing around with my camera this weekend trying to document my living room for my blog (before I change up stuff for the 10,000th time :-), and I happend to take this shot. My photography skills are limited to point and shoot, but I managed to capture my cat Charlie resting on one of my favourite pieces of furniture – my grandma’s retro armchair. Charlie loves to snooze up there, while keeping an eye on the turmoil of the street below…
– Katja (aka Fat Cat)

Cletus knows she is not supposed to be on the couch. This particular couch is in my front room, the “Cat Free Zone”, but sometimes I forget to close the door and I just know that she will be in there curled in a ball, pretending that I can’t see her snoozing. In this pic she knows she’s been caught! Sometimes she gets evicted but if she looks at me cute enough.. she gets to stay until Dad gets home.
– Sara (Ottawa)

My husband and I adopted 8 year-old Whiskey from a shelter a year ago, and he’s 17 lbs of fluffy love! This week he discovered the comforts of sleeping on the back of the living room chair. I bought the pillow case on a business trip to Africa, and it is hand-painted.
Laura

This is Gus. He belongs to Designer Darryl Carter. He posed on a chair in Darryl’s Middleburg, VA Country retreat.”
– Nick

Here are some photos of Oscar, my friend Meredith’s cat, whom we were “cat sitting” last week. This was his favourite hang out spot. So cute – didn’t want to give him back!
– Sheila

This is our 6 years old Jack Russell, Toby, who simply loves sleeping and making himself cosy on our sofa, on our beds, and with pillows and cushions in tow!
– Susan

this is my dog Cash chillin on my Rachel ashwell arm chair, and watchin tv on my west elm sofa!

Hi, this is Gala, my 2 year old Himalayan. We are from Lima, Perú. Gala loves to rest and play on the top of my computer´s chair… even when I´m working!
– Jen

My kitty sitting on my bed…hope this isn’t too much of a closeup.  I just really like these pillows 🙂
– Jessica

This is my golden retriever Ella! We live in Manaus, right beside the amazon rainforest. She thinks that every fluffy place in the house belongs to her.

Your pets on furniture was brought to my attention by a friend of mine who knows my silly fascination with photographing my dog throughout my condo. These weren’t shot with your parameters in mind, but I think they actually may work. Photos are of Otto, my 2-1/2 year old Blue Weimaraner.
– Dana

This is my dog Sophie. She is one regal bitch. I made this slipcover especially for her; note how she blends in not unlike a chameleon. Sophie likes to sit in this chair during the day so she can survey the neighbors with trademark disdain.
– Lauren

The way Sammy relaxes some days; resting his head on the Moroccan side table.
Traci

You might remember my friend Loni’s two cats from the submission a couple of weeks ago [here]. Here’s Raymond again, this time channeling his more eclectic side, choosing the comfy pale rose wing chair in the bedroom.
Julia

Here is a photo of Zelda and Munchie. Zel is adorning my teak dining table and Munchie is making fine use of the floor pillow. In the background is my homemade cat tree/shelf, and a framed Pantone sheet from my Etsy store. In the second photo Zelda is sitting on the built-in cabinet with the cacti, a vintage Delphite FireKing bowl and some dried japanese anemone seedpods.
– Jessica

I thought I’d send you a pic of my cat, Fluffsta posing so beautifully with Obama! And of course on a pile of magazines, her favorite place to be.
Lana

This is Bruno watching the Red Sox game last summer. Like all men he controls the remote!!
– Maria

This is my 14 year old cat called Buffy the Vampire Slayer…the kids chose the name after the obvious and their obsession with the TV series!  We live in Canberra, Australia. She’s incredibly grumpy, loves taking a swipe (well named hey!) and always carrying on to be fed…or lounging about here when she has a perfectly good fur lined basket to sleep in!
Kerry

My Lhasa/Maltese mix, Lily, loves to lounge on just about any piece of furniture she can get on…the comfier the better!
– Michelle

Onida and KiKi.
Tim

Belle and Sebastian named after an obscure rock group relaxing on a Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. “Hey” Sebastian says, “My eyes match the celadon green couch!” We’re here in Atlanta with our Grandmommie because our mommie went to NYC and couldn’t take us with her. Hi, mommie Erin in Brooklyn! We love you!”  – Belle and Sebastian”

Mickey and Custard enjoying each others company at the end of a long day…

I am Brooklyn. I live in Stockholm, Sweden and I am a Ridgeback mix. My mom try’s to keep me off the furniture but when i tilt my head and look at her she melts. Yeah, I know she is a sucker. But it is great, cause I usually get what I want. Best of all is when mom sits next to me in our couch and blogs. I get to sleep as she gets to be inspired! Well now i think I hear someone say “walk” so that means I am out of here.
xx Brooklyn (oh and my mom, Joanna, says Hi)

I LOVE this series you do! And while I love my dog…I love my furniture too. THIS might be where I have to draw the line. Mind you, the chair is a Big Butt Chair…more than 36 inches across! Bo…apparently, is a Big Butt Dane. I did a whole series on the chair on my blog…it was a PIA to re-do!!
Linda

My Missi loves sleeping in my bed and we took this nice photo while shooting my cushions.”
Margarita

After bringing in 2 new male cats in to the house this week, our 5-year old cat “Gata” has never been more competitive. Turning her charm a few more notches, she works it for my camera while chillin’ at her favorite place in the house – the office couch.
– Ypille

I submitted my dog Elvis’s picture for your Pets on Furniture edition and he was up (last) week!  Yey!  But it’s created some jealousy issues with our other Bichon Frisé!  Hehe!  Can I submit her photo for next week?  Like this she can regain her “queen” status within the household?
This is a picture of our 14 year old Bichon Frisé, Bijou.  That’s right, Bijou, French for jewel!  This picture was taken this summer on our wedding day by our talented wedding photographers Davina + Daniel ( http://davinaplusdaniel.com/blog/ ).  I guess Bijou needed to run away from the wedding craze and to do so, she targeted the one couch in the house she’s not allowed to jump on!  I’m sure she didn’t think she would get caught on camera!

– Nataly

I’ve attached four photos of Lucy, (dog), and Scooter, (bunny), hanging out on the sofa together. Lucy and Scooter are buddies and have perfected the art of sitting on the back of the sofa and begging for treats. And I don’t know if you ever include “pets on furniture” VIDEOS, but if you’d like to include my youtube link starring Scooter playing on the sofa (with appearances by Lucy and Scooter’s bunny companion, Baxter) you are welcome to.
– Alison

Here’s a photo of our other bunny, Bernina.
– Kristen

This is Charlie. He loves lounging around on sofas and coffee tables. He loves position himself in strange places on the couch, and wedge himself between pillows. He is such a wonderful puppy, he somehow manages keep the pillows in their place!
– Leanna

“Here’s Oscar relaxing on “his” chair, accompanied by a Lulu DK bolster pillow and sheepskin. He’s four and we live in NYC so he’s a big fan of window watching on all that is going on down below in “his kingdom”!!!”
Lauren

Sometimes my dog Ennis will just sit like this and watch me (sizing me up?) while i’m watching t.v….i’ts kind of unnerving. He’s sitting on my beautiful modern couch from Room & Board. i am so thankful to the sales person who suggested I get this couch instead of another one because it would stand up to frequent use and it sure has. Yes, I really did have an oil painting done of him as Ennis Washington (artist Carol Lew, see background) 😉
– Mike

Here is a picture of our French Bulldogs Barkley and Beau (and their stuffed friend Leroy)!
– Emily

I think this pic is too blurry for your site, but I wanted to share our new family member, Stanley.  We found him on Petfinder.com.  He was at Animal Control in San Jose then a nice group rescued him.  He is wonderful and I think a great advertisement for rescuing mutts!
– Leah

This is Rooke our 6 year old Beagle.  We are doing some remodeling in our kitchen.  Rooke was not loving all the commotion and noise going on.  He was especially afraid of the nail gun:(  I found him in my daughter’s room using her stuffed animal as a pillow! So cute!
– Stephanie, Chris, Tyler, Madison & Rooke

This is Gus, my 95 lb. Lab making himself comfortable in my wicker chair. He always chooses what I would consider the most uncomfortable places to rest, as evidenced by the photo of him lounging on my vintage table on our deck. Don’t ask me how he managed to get up there…it’s a mystery!
Shari

This is our Yellow lab, Hailey and her “little brother” Diego (Weimaraner). Ever since we moved our futon downstairs into the office, they think this is their bed. They love to cuddle up together & fall asleep!
