Monday’s pets on furniture – part 1

Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s REALLY dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!!!)

Saw your blog today and thought I would send these along!

I wanted to submit this photo of my roommate’s dog Jackson. Our family room is very contemporary, but I love how he sits on the arm of the couch & seems so proper (when he is anything but proper, he’s very playful). Since modern/contemporary spaces can sometimes be perceived as cold; Jackson and his toys are the perfect balance to the room. A few weeks ago this little white puppy (aka Butters) was added, and she contrasts the black couch. The only problem: I end up photographing these two, instead of studying for my finance tests.

This is Beckham. It must be so difficult to be such a big lovable dog around such tiny furniture. But he finds a way.
– Mark

I’d like to post the photo of my baby Oscar.  He loves to sit at the kitchen table when dinner is being served.  He never steal’s any food but he watches in awe.
– Nicole

This is Dylan (named for Bob), my rescued Maine coon, as he perches on my refurbished antique chair, which I purchased from the wonderful duo at Nightwood [nightwoodny.com] in Brooklyn. He is clearly saying, ‘Oh no! You caught me!’ (Well, actually he is cleaning up after eating.)
– Mary Ellen

We were all scratching our heads after seeing this. Where else does this little one get into when we are not at home. Walked in at the end of a work day, and my daughter finds my cat curled up in a bowl. on the stove!
– ‘sbeebe’

Here’s another of Tottenham, at one of his favorite spots, our screened-in porch and on his favorite chair. Thank goodness for sunbrella.
Shannon

Here are Princess Peach & Ollie posing for their snap!

“Little did I know that my dog Reese and my chair would color coordinate! There have been times when I have looked all over the house to find her and never saw her curled up in this chair. She just blends right in. As you can see from the ‘patch’, Reese loved on this chair a little too much when she was a puppy!”
– Jenn

I recently discovered this awesome blog via Kim Myles’s tweet! This is Thelonious, claiming this wicker love-seat all his own.
Sarah Forman

Here’s our best buddy, Red the Cat, sitting on his new favorite accessory, the Snuggie. He didn’t care for the leather chair at all before the Snuggie was left on it (and we don’t mind it that way—this leather chair is also our new baby!). Now, wherever the snuggie is, that’s where Red sits.
Leslie

Just wanted to share a picture of Rosie- caught lounging on my new sofa.
– Kristi

I am an architect and I live in Italy, near Milan. I send you some photos of : MAYA, my mother’s loved labrador, LE CORBUSIER (called “Corbu”, the white cat) & KLIMT (our neighbours’ cat, and Corbu’s friend), they stay in my studio all the time!
– Barbara

It’s Trasia, one of our tree cats in our sitting room. The armchair is her favorite place and it’s really hard when we want her to get out.

Hi, this is my sheltie, Elvis, on my newley recovered gray velvet sofa. I would say they are equally beautiful.
Jessica

This is my friend Jackson , he likes to breath through his nose. 😉
– Dax

Here’s another on of our Tottenham. BTW — this series has inspired my own blog starring Tott. It’s a bit unconventional (like the tub), it’s our shower bench. But couldn’t resist sending. Happy Monday!
Shannon

Here are three pictures of our beloved Cocker spaniel, Charlotte. She is the star of our house!
– Laurent and Marie from Belgium

“‘Mom could you please bring our sunglasses?’ Rudy and Chloe are happily having their morning sun on the patio in Arizona.”
– Poncie

Thought this might be fun
Ben

Here is our Homer basking in the sun.
– Wendy

McKenzie, my Old English Sheepdog, likes to test out different pieces of furniture.
– Carol

Barber, our half Basset Hound-half Australian Shepherd puppy is much too big for this garage sale find of a chair now, but he still loves to squeeze himself in there!  (And no, he didn’t chew that arm up; it came with some vintage “character” already!)
– Stefani

Had a huge party this weekend for my birthday.  This morning my doggy was irresistible and I had to take some pics to send in.  He is just a little mutt dog but to me he is the cutest thing in the world!
– Nataleigh

This is our baby Malo. He loves ice cream, meowing while everyone sleeps and jumping on furniture he’s not allowed to be on. He’s a total sweetheart just like his daddy.

I wanted to send you pictures of my Weimaraner Cooper. He absolutely rules the household, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. We always say he’s lucky he’s so pretty because it gets him out of a loads of trouble. I bought the chair he is sitting in years ago in college (for $20!) with the intentions of recovering it. I fell in love with the bones of it and see its great potential. Unfortunately for the chair, so has Cooper. Its amazing watching his 70lb. body curl up in it like he’s a cat. He sits there every morning in the corner of my bedroom while I get ready for work.”
– Mandy

Here are photos of my French Bulldog Gromit at his “Aunt” Lindsey & “Uncle” Dave’s Loft in Philadelphia over the Holiday’s. My mom and I were the only one’s up early in the morning (besides Gromit the Frenchie), and as we were drinking our coffee and talking, he kept trying to look out the window (he loves doing that at home like a cat!), but he obviously can’t reach here since it’s a huge loft window. He was making us laugh so I grabbed my camera, what came out of it were some great photos of Gromit on their leather couch in the sunshine.
Jen

I’m from Nashville, TN…this is my British Yellow Labrador, Buck in my fathers office.  He is NOT allowed on this leather chair but my father was out of town this day.  He’s too cute to say no to.”
– Jordan

I am attaching a photo of Fiona, our lovely Llewellin Setter.  She is a very rare breed that originally hails from Wales, UK.  Llewellins are very closely related to English and Gordon Setters.   We adopted her so don’t have a lot of info about her history.  We are so happy to have found her though, as she has been an amazing dog.  Very affectionate, friendly and playful.  And, as you can see has made herself right at home.  We live in Toronto, ON.
– Carol

My 9 year old daughter and I love your feature each Monday. She has been dying to contribute pics of her hammie “Elisabeth” (aka, the Great Hambini–she escapes!) but because she is so tiny (Chinese dwarf hamster)it has been hard to get a good pic.
– Mari Anne

I know it’s a little dark but… This is Maxzilla (Max for short) doing his favorite thing in my favorite chair 🙂
– Stephanie

This is my dear little rescue cat, Eva Peron, taking a nap on “her” brown faux-suede tufted bench, aka. Klic-klac.  We were in the process of moving, but despite the junk around her, she was determined to sleep. Move over Audrey plate.”
– Liz

To totally join in on the fun, I thought I’d submit pictures of my babies on the furniture. This first photo is of Ella Fitzgerald, our 9 month old American Bulldog.  She’s sitting on our white slip-covered sofa. Normally, I don’t keep a blanket on it, but I had just washed the slipcovers and lately, the dogs have been sneaking up on it.
– Carissa

I’m FLORA (a cat) from Argentina.
– Gabi

Okay, Zia the longhair chihuahua isn’t ON the furniture, but she would be if she could jump. This corner of my dad’s house features furniture from the sorely missed Bombay Store.
It looks like a loveseat, but actually it is the Great Dane’s Bed.  Luci snoozes and lets the chihuahua Suzie Quzie perch on the back.

Cindy is the dog of my niece. She spends a few days holiday in my house and took the opportunity to relax on the couch.
Cindy é a cachorra da minha sobrinha.Ela passa alguns dias de férias em minha casa e aproveita para descansar sobre o sofá.

Heloisa (Brazil)

Meet Austin Mini-Cooper,  our “Office Mascot” & guard dog at CCS Architecture, a boutique architectural firm in San Francisco. After a long day at the office, Austin reminds us all how important it is to relax.

This is my nephew, Bocifery (Bo for short).  He loves laying on the arms of the couch and chair and he looks soooo cute doing it!
– Jillian

I was taking pics of my Dog Chuy for my blog- but he doesn’t like that, and he will make faces at me to make me stop. He’s 13 now, and he’s been doing for years. The chair was an auction find for 7 bucks.  He likes it because of the southern exposure.
– Lori Jo

We ( my wife Wendy and I) live in a two bedroom apartment in Mascot, Sydney. We live there with Molly. Molly is a maltese and is eight years old next week.  From ‘her’ spot on the bed, we can watch as we go about the house hold chores. Along the way we’ve learnt that It’s one thing to have nice home but what really makes it special is the people and the pets that live there. They give it is essential quality – life. A quality no amount of decorating can improve upon.
– Bob

Here is a picture of my cat “Mignonne” (French for cute/sweet little thing) sitting on her favorite IKEA Poang chair.  She has claimed that chair to be hers ever since the furniture arrived.
– Rebecca

Here two pictures of our dog – Mona. She loves this spot in the sun…
– Gal

This is our labrachowchow mix Paulie, or Miss P. She refused to turn around for the picture…might miss something : )
– Emily

This is my dog Stacy, she is a staffordshire terrior/husky mix and this is her favorite spot in the house besides our bed.
– Michelle

This little Abbey on our sofa, which has been deemed hers since we no longer really use it anymore. Abbey used to weigh 130 lbs when we adopted her and probably could not have climbed up on this sofa 2 years ago! We love her so much! (We believe her old owners kept her in one room with a consistently full bowl. She has lost a total of 57 pounds and is a happy, healthy baby now :))
– Maddy

That’s Monalisa, one of my 4 persian cats!
– Pat (Brazil)

This is LuLu The Cat , Patches our beagle and Charlie our terrier mix. We adopted all our pets through our local shelter. One exception was LuLu my husband and daughter found her in the middle of the street at just  four weeks.

I’m an architect from São Paulo Brazil, and I just couldn’t resist sending you the pics of my 1 meter Maine Coon cat! His name is Whiskey, and he just loves to sit-sleep-walk all over things that don’t belong to him! So I’m sending you some pics of him on my pillow, and getting ready to jump on my 3 legged chair!
– Bethliss

I’d like to submit my darling Grendel for ‘pets on furniture’. Grendel passed away suddenly last Sunday of a blood clot, he was a very healthy and frisky boy up until that day (the photo of him on the fridge was taken a week before he died). My sweetheart and I are very grateful for the seven great years we had him.
– Rebekah

These photos are of Griff on the upstairs leather sectional- where he technically is not supposed to lay. But he’s so darn cute, I let him. 😉
– April

Our dog Diesel likes to jump on every table we have in our house – but every time I seem to get the camera out to take a photo of him, he jumps off! The first photo is as close as I could get (this is our lovely dining table made from an old antique door that my Dad made for us). The second photo is his other favourite spot curled up on the end of our 3 seater couch!
Hannah

this is belikin. clearly, he is goofy.”
Kristen

“My Norfolk terrier mix, Hank Jr. loves hanging out with his buddies.
I thought you might like this shot of Hank’s LA “cousins”, my best friends dogs, Luis, Norm & Vito.
Last pic. Hank hanging with his LA cousins on their lovely Ralph Lauren chairs.”

– Leah

Here is my greyhound mix, Sammy, fast asleep on “his” sofa. It is an antique I inherited and in the (perhaps futile) hope of keeping it nice I’ve laid towels on it to protect the upholstery.
Beth

This is my two-year-old longhair dachshund Bodhi.  He’s a double dapple and has one blue eye and one brown eye, but it always comes out looking strange in photos.  What’s funny about this is a put him in this chair just for a picture.  He’d never seemed to notice the chair prior to this, but now I can’t seem to get the dog OUT of the chair.  As you can see from my dog and my furniture, I’m quite a fan of the color brown.
– The Levins

This is my Harliquin Great Dane, Artimis, who thinks this wicker loveseat is HIS!  Even when someone is on it…he’ll crawl up and sit on them as if to say ‘This is MY seat, thank-you!’
This is my female brindle Great Dane, Ursula!  On rare occasions when Artimis leaves the loveseat….Ursula jumps on the opportunity to get on it, too!  They ‘LOVE’ this loveseat!!
One is of my black cat, Scout, with Ursula on the bed.

– Missy

Here is a pic of my black lab/basset hound dogs Roscoe and Bo on a couch in my store in boston.
– Danielle

This is my 10 month old Westie Myles. And yes he is more important than my Henredon leather sofa.
– Natalie

I’ve attached a picture of my daughter’s cat that I hope you will consider for your Monday pets on furniture post.  I decided not to photograph the whole settee that Ben is on because it was a Montreal street find (the furniture not the cat) and is damaged and kind of ugly on the bottom and left side.  Anyway I thought the black cat on the red velvet looked cool.  Hope you think so too.
