Give me Haussmannian apartments any day of the week and I’ll be a happy camper. This architecture is incredibly inspiring and makes the rest of the decor shine. Like in this apartment designed by Agathe Convert in collaboration with Amélie Buvat. A mix of dark and light paint colours, and the prettiest pink I’ve ever seen on the kitchen cabinets. Lots of built-in storage solutions makes this space functional on top of being gorgeous.

Sunday at the office

If you’re stuck going in to the office on a Sunday, it would be no sweat if it was as cool as the Oakland, CA office of Black Girls CODE (an inspiring organization trying to increase the number of women of color in the digital technology space by introducing girls 7-17 to CS – which I LOVE. 20 years ago when I was in the computer science program at a local college, I was one of maybe 5 women, and that included my twin sister. And we 5 were white or Asian). Designer Kīyonda Powell used such stunning, jewel tones in this space, and lots of fun patterns in fabrics and wallpaper.

Brazilian designer Sig Bergamin is taking maximalism to a place where colour is IN YOUR FACE and art is KEY and patterns are BOLD and abundant. This cottage he designed has an energy that is inimitable.

Working on a Saturday

I say it week after week. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish … or in this case very, very pretty. Sonia Boyajian Studio & Showroom by Studio Shamshiri.

The owners of this apartment in Moscow wanted it to be bright and spacious and reflect their personalities and passion to travel. They must have very outgoing and eclectic personalities because WOW is this space ever both of those! Such vibrant colours, and unique details like the mural behind the tub, the rug made from used clothing and cushion from vintage jeans army tents and a Chinoiserie mural by the kitchen.  I really admire designer Daria Vasilkova‘s creativity and attention to detail. (Love the glass wall sconces repeated throughout the apartment in rather random placements)
