Far from the basic shelters built for farm labourers on large estates this bothy was the charming home of interior designer John Tanner. Maximalist and traditional in style the tiny cottage shows that small space living does not need to be pared back and sterile. Beautiful, individual and dramatic.

For a girl who can never keep wine around long enough to store properly can we talk about this cellar by Studio Gorman? We know there must be some treasures on those shelves because it’s hidden behind a secret door. A fabulous rustic cavern for quaffing only the best.

“Chinampa” is the name given to the floating gardens used for cultivation by the Aztecs. It’s also the name of a one-bedroom 58ft widebeam canal boat on London’s Regent Canal. That’s right I’m real estate stalking a London canal boat and why not? It’s a wonderful mix of vintage and bespoke, romantic and stylish. I might not dream of running away to the high seas but I could very easily settle into this small and beautifully formed home afloat. Link here while it lasts.

Can we just discuss how elegantly simple or is that simply elegant this kitchen by Sacramento-based Blair Design is? Black, brass, subway and stone and as for that luscious caramel banquette … it all adds up to a definite case of kitchen love.

I have this dream of one day buying a weekender in a cute country town. I’d rent it out as short-term boutique accommodation when I wasn’t there and hope to one day make it my forever home. In my mind it’s always been an old cottage, quirky, a little rustic, steeped in history … until now. Now I want this architect designed modern home that combines old-world aesthetic with a cool contemporary feel.
